I found David Jones age 38, born Canada with wife Claire age 30 and daughter Alice living at 3076 Wyoming in St. Louis City. He was a broker/jobber for the Animal Fat company, which may be the forerunner for the Amour Meat Packing Company. He claims to have immigrated to the US in 1885 and was naturalized in 1895. (1920 census taken 5 January 1920)
In 1930 Claire is living at 3858 McDonald (just a few blocks from the Wyoming address) with her two children. She claims to be a widow and is working as a clerk. She also says she was 25 years old at the time of her marriage, which would make it 1915.
There are about 70 David Jones that died in Missouri 1910-1963, but none in the 1920s that fit. You can search all of them at http://www.sos.mo.gov/archives/resources/deathcertificates/#...
Either he did not die before 1930, or he died out of state.
Claire's SSDI shows she was born 22 April 1888 and died Jan 1967. The last residence was zipcode 63116, whci is where the McDonald address is located. It does not give maiden name. She is not on findagrave.com or the Catholic cemetery list.
She may have been divorced/separated and not widowed. Many women at that time claimed to be widowed after they separated from their husbands.
