Hello Vickie,
A great deal of information about the people I believe to be your Wages ancestors has already been compiled by Les Lee and Roy Gerard, which can be found at the following link:
http://www.illinoisancestors.org/fulton/family_histories/wag...Also concerning the Wages I found Richard and Mary Wages and children, and Ambrose and Mary Wages and children, in the 1850 census living in District No. 96, Sullivan County, Missouri. The two families are found on the same census page. For example, Ambrose Wages is shown to be 46 years old and born in Kentucky. His occupation is listed as farmer. The census also shows that the value of his real estate in 1850 was $1,500. Mary E. Wages is shown to be 20 years old and born in Vermont. The two children in the household, both born Missouri, are 3 year old Martha Ann and 1 year old Richard M. Wages.
The census also shows that Richard Wages was a 46 year old farmer born in Kentucky. The value of his real estate was $1,500. His wife Mary was 47 years old and born in North Carolina. The two children in the household, both born in Kentucky, are 19 year old Andrew C. Wages and 13 year old Littleton L. Wages. Information that you will se later on will show that Richard and Mary Wages were the parents of Ambrose.
Keep in mind the 1850 census does not give relationships of people in the household, to the head of the household.
The census transcription below is from the Ancestry.com subscription website. Unless otherwise noted all other census transcriptions will also be from Ancestry.com:

Next I located Ambrose and Mary E. Wages and their five children in the 1860 census still living in Sullivan County, Missouri, with a post office address of Milan. On the same census page are enumerated the families of Littleton P. and Susan Wages, and Richard and Mary Wages. Littleton would be Ambrose‘s brother, while Richard and Mary are his parents:

Before moving on to the 1870 census I found what I believe to be a record for your Ambrose Wages showing that he joined the Union Army during the Civil War. This record shows that he enrolled in the 66th Regiment, Company D, Missouri Militia. This record was found at the Missouri State Archives Soldiers' Records: War of 1812 - World War I. You can also download a typescript copy of Ambrose’s Civil War record from the Missouri State Archives link noted above, showing that Ambrose Wages enrolled as a private in Company D of the 66th Regiment on April 30, 1864. His place of enrollment was Milan, Missouri. The typescript also shows Ambrose was enrolled in the unit by a General Fisk. In addition the record shows that Ambrose was relieved from duty by General Fisk on November 14, 1864. His total amount of time in the army was 100 days.
I also found the enrollment of a Francis Wages in the 66th Regiment, but in Company F. Francis may have been Ambrose’s relative.

The first instance were I located information about Alice M Wages was in the 1870 census, where she is living in the household of her parents, Ambrose and Mary E. Wages in Polk Township, Sullivan County, Missouri. Alice is shown to be 5 years old and born in Missouri. She is also listed as attending school, but noting that she cannot write. Her father Ambrose is listed as a 45 year old worker in a mill, though I couldn’t decipher what type of mill it was, due to the handwriting of the Assistant Marshal, Calvin Cooper, who was the census enumerator. Ambrose was born in Kentucky. Mary E. Wages is listed as 41 years old and born in Vermont. The other children in the household, all born in Missouri, are 18 year old Mary L. Wages; 13 year old Oliver; 10 year old “Malissa;” and 5 year old Emma:

The Latter Day Saints (LDS) have filmed birth and death records for Sullivan County, Missouri covering the years 1835-1899. There’s the possibility that Alice’s birth record and the births records of her siblings are in these birth records, provided they were born in Sullivan County.

Also in the 1870 census living in Sullivan County, Missouri are the families of Francis and Sarah J. Wages, and Andrew and Sarah Wages. Francis and Andrew may have been the brothers of Ambrose. I found Ambrose Wages in the 1880 census, but in this enumeration his last name is listed as "Wagner," rather than Wages. He is shown to be a 56 year old widower born in Kentucky. His address in the 1880 census is Penn, Sullivan County. His daughter Alice is not in the household with him. The children who are in the household, all born Missouri, are 21 year old Melissa, who is keeping house; 12 year old Dora; 9 year old Bertha; and 7 year old William. William would have been born circa 1873, which means that his mother would have died between 1873 and 1880.
You’ll notice that the 1880 census shows that the father (Ambrose) of Melissa, Dora, Bertha, and William, is shown to have been born in Kentucky, but that the birthplace of their mother is also Kentucky, whereas in the 1850, 1860, and 1870 enumerations, she was shown to have been born in Vermont.

I also found a second set of records for Ambrose D. Wages and his family. These are from the LDS Pedigree Resource File and were submitted by Carolyn Henry of Roma, Texas. The Pedigree Resource File traces the male Wages line from Ambrose, to his father Richard, his grandfather John Francis Xavier, and great grandfather William. You’ll note that this line of the Wages family originally came from Maryland. You’ll also see that Ambrose’s father Richard had married twice. His first marriage was to Mary Polly Roberts on 28 May 1823 in Estill, Kentucky. His second marriage was to Ellen Hare or Hayes, on 22 September 1873 in Ellen’s home, Sullivan County, Missouri. The Pedigree Resource File also shows that Ambrose Wages and Mary Witter were married in 1845 and that Ambrose died on 28 December 1891 in Trenton, Missouri. If you order the above mentioned birth and death records for Sullivan County, Missouri on the LDS microfilm, see if you can find a death record for Ambrose Wages filed in 1891:

A separate entry by Carolyn Henry for Mary E. Witter shows that she was born in St. Albans, Vermont in 1829. Her parents are not listed. The entry also shows that Mary died in Sullivan Township, Franklin County, Missouri in 1872.
Franklin County is not located anywhere near Sullivan County, as it is situated south west St. Louis. There is a city called Sullivan which straddles Franklin and Crawford Counties. I am wondering if Carolyn Henry, who submitted this information, got mixed up on the townships and the counties:

If you don’t already have a copy of their marriage record, see if you can find it in LDS microfilm number 1009115 for Missouri marriages, found toward the beginning of this reply.
Your Wages and Bradford ancestors won’t be found in the 1890 census as most of that enumeration was burned in a fire in the Commerce Building in Washington, D.C. in 1921.
But I found John M. and Alice M. Bradford and their eight children in the 1900 census living in Buchanan Township, Sullivan County Missouri. Included in the census is your 2 year old great grandmother, Alvaretta Bradford. In this enumeration John M. Bradford is shown to have been born in Pennsylvania in July of 1860. His age is 49 years. His father and mother were likewise born in Pennsylvania. He is also shown to have been married for 19 years and that he rents a farm, though his actual occupation is not given.
His wife Alice M. Bradford is shown to have been born in February of 1862. Her age is 38 years. She is shown to have been married 19 years. She is also listed as the mother of 8 children, and that all eight were still alive as of 1900. Her place of birth is Missouri, but the census shows her father was born in Ohio, rather than Kentucky, and that her mother was also born in Ohio, rather than Vermont. Aside from Alvaretta, the other children in the household, all born in Missouri, include 16 year old Flora B.; 14 year old Hattie M.; 12 year old Arthur O.; 9 year old Burthie E.; 7 year old Thomas T.; 5 year old Goldie E.; and 2 month old Dora M. By the 1910 census John M. Bradford’s wife Alice was deceased, as this enumeration shows he is now married to 41 year old Ida, who was born in Missouri. In fact the census shows that John and Ida were married for 1 year when the census was taken on 24 April 1910. In addition both John and Ida are shown to have been married twice, as their marital status is written as “M2,” which means second marriage. John’s occupation is farmer. The census shows he owned his home free of a mortgage.
Other information about Ida shows that of the seven children she had, seven were still alive as of 1910. You’ll notice that three of the children listed in the household are 15 year old Nora Banner, 7 year old Julia Banner, and 5 year Mabel Banner, all born Missouri. This indicates that Ida’s first marriage had been to a fellow named Banner. The other children in the household include 14 year old Ethel; your great grandmother, 12 year old Alva; 10 year old Dona; 7 year old Henry; and 7 month old Johny M. Bradford. All the children were born in Missouri.
Listed two families away from John and Ida Bradford is the enumeration for H.H. and Emily Bradford. H.H. may have been John’s relative. The 1910 census was taken in Pen Township, Sullivan County, Missouri:

Next I found the person who may be your great grandmother, 20 year old “Alma” Holloway in the 1920 census living in West Penn Township, Green City, Sullivan County. She was born in Missouri. Her father is listed as being born in Pennsylvania and her mother in Missouri. Her husband is 21 year old farmer Ellet S. Hollaway, born Kentucky, as were his parents. Ellet is an unusual name and am wondering if that were a middle name or nickname. In any case in the 1930 census, coming up later, you’ll see that Alvaretta’s husband’s name is Samuel E. Holloway.
No children are in the household in the 1920 census which indicates that Ellet and Alma were probably married in the past couple of years:

Next is the aforementioned 1930 census for 30 year old Samuel E. and 31 year old Alvaretta Holloway and their children, living in Penn Township. Samuel is shown to be a farmer born in Kentucky. This census asks if each family owns a radio. The census shows that Samuel and Alvaretta do own a radio. The census also shows that Samuel was 19 years old when he married. I couldn’t clearly make out Alvaretta’s age at marriage, but it appears tom be 20 years old. The two children in the household, born Missouri, are 9 year old Ida M. Holloway and 1 year and 3 month old Paul E. Holloway.
Four households away in the census is the family of Charles F. and Edith F. Holloway and children. Charles may have been Samuel‘s relative:

Concerning the Bradfords in the 1930 census I found them living in Buchanan Township, Sullivan County, Missouri. In this enumeration John’s name is given as Milton Bradford, a 69 year old married farmer born in Pennsylvania. It appears Milton was first married when he was 20, though I could be wrong as I couldn’t decipher clearly his age when his first marriage occurred. Ida is shown to be 64 years old and first married when she was 17. Her birthplace is Missouri. The children in the household are 11 year old Fern Bradford and 23 year old stepdaughter, Mabel Banner, both born in Missouri:

I then found what I believe to be Ida Bradford’s death certificate, which shows that she died of paralysis due to a hemorrhage of the brain, in Buchanan Township, Sullivan County on July 26, 1930. Her husband is listed as Milton Bradford. Her father’s name is listed as Henry Shaver, born Missouri. Her mother was Mary Williams, also born Missouri. The death certificate also shows that Ida was buried in Hawkeye Cemetery on 28 July 1830, and that the undertaker was Glenn E. Kent, of Green City, Missouri. The following extraction is taken from the actual death certificate found at the Missouri Archives search engine at:
http://www.sos.mo.gov/archives/resources/deathcertificates/a...Ida Bradford
Date of death: 7-26-1930
Place of death: County: Sullivan. Township: Buchanan

I didn’t find John or Milton Bradford’s death certificate at the archives, or information about him at Find A Grave.
I next wanted to see if I could locate more information about John M. Bradford’s second wife, Ida Shaver Banner, who was born in Missouri circa 1865-1870. I found a 11 year old Missouri-born Ida Shaver in the 1880 census living in the household of Benjamin and Mary F. Payne in Jackson, Sullivan County, Missouri. She is listed as Benjamin Payne’s stepdaughter, which means she would be Mary F. Payne’s daughter. This further means that Benjamin F. Payne would not be Mary’s first husband. All the other children in the household are also shown to be Benjamin Payne’s stepchildren. These include 14 year old Lizzie; 13 year old Thomas; 8 year old Jesse; and 6 year old Annie. These children, like Ida, were born in Missouri. The 1880 census transcription from the LDS website is below:

Next is information about the Social Security Death Index from Ancestry.com:
About Social Security Death Index
The Death Master File (DMF) from the Social Security Administration (SSA) currently
contains over 87 million records. The current update reflects the latest information
provided by the SSA as of July 2010. The file is created from internal SSA records
of deceased persons possessing social security numbers and whose deaths were reported
to the SSA. Often this was done in connection with filing for death benefits by a
family member, an attorney, a mortuary, etc. Each update of the DMF includes corrections
to old data as well as additional names.
[NOTE: If someone is missing from the list, it may be that the benefit was never requested,
an error was made on the form requesting the benefit, or an error was made when entering
the information into the SSDI.]

Because it is now a public record, as Alvaretta is deceased, you can send away for the copy of Alvaretta’s Social Security application she filled out in 1973. Below is more information about sending away for the application, what type of information the application may contain about Alvaretta, and also a letter that you can send to Social Security requesting a copy of her application. If you send for the application, send for the long form, not the Numident copy, as the Numident copy will not contain as much information. A copy of the full application cost $27:
