Funeral services for Bob Askin, 73, Ismay, long-time World Champion All-Around Cowboy, were held Friday afternoon in the Chapel of Graves Funeral Home with Rev. Don Hamilton officiating. Mrs. Marjorie Clarke sang "In the Garden" and "The Old Rugged Cross."
Mr. Askin died Tuesday morning at the Veterans Hospital.
Survivors include three sons, David of Billings, Perry, Plevna, and Frank of Kalispell; two daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Griebel, Plevna, and Mrs. Birdie Johnston, Billings; four brothers, Hank, Ekalaka, Alva and Burdette, Ismay, and C. L. "Poddy" of Baker; three sisters, Mrs. Jennie George, Corona, Colo., Mrs. Esther Cooper, Salinas, Calif., and. Mrs. Edna Spangler, Salt Lake City; 13 grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen and a brother George.
Casketbearers were six of his nephews: Gary Askin, Kermit Askin, Rodney Askin, Ronnie Askin, Roy Askin, and Fulton Castleberry. Burial was in the Custer County Cemetery.
Graves Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
