My great-grandfather is one Daniel Lorenzo Tyler, but I do not know who his parents were. This is what I know:
B: 17 Mar 1861 Mayville, Chautauqua County, NY
M: 14 Dec 1892 in the First United Presbyterian Church, Lewiston, Fergus County, MT
1900 US Federal Census, Miscellaneous Townships, Fergus County, MT
Roll T623 911 Pg 9A Line 43
Married to:
Cora Mae Clark
B: 11 Nov 1868 Appleton City, St. Clair County, MO
The family story is that they met when Cora moved out to MT to teach. Family history also says that Daniels father is one Daniel Budlong Tyler, but I have information (Census) that seems to contradict that.
Any information would be welcome!

My ggrandfather Marion Lafayette Wheeler owned a ranch in Fergus county I believe from the mid 1880's to 1920 when he died. I would where the land was and the time peroid he owned the land. He had a large herd of sheep and would go to Montana from Iowa several times per year. My grandfather and his mother, brother, and sisters also spent time on the ranch. I have paper work that states he did business with the Montana Lumber co. @ Moccasin-First National Bank Hobson-Fergus County state bank of Hobson-Frank P Redman Lewistown-H. T. Goodell Hobson Montana. This is all I have but thought I would start with Fergus county first. Thanks for any help you can give me. Judith Gettings

After my grandmother(Alweida aka Peggy Anderson) died in approx 1925-26, my grandfather(Alphone Genest)placed my dad(Allen Genest) with this family as a foster child until approx 1930. My dad is now nearly 84 and would like to know if any photos or other info exists about his former foster family who he remembers fondly. My grandfather was French Canadian from Saskatchewan and my grandmother was Metis/"half breed" from Sask as well.

Trying to locate information for my G-Grandfather's brother's family. Alphonso appears in the 1900 census in Lewiston, Fergus County as a teamster. He married Ella R in 1901 and they had 4 children - Ruth, a schoolteacher; a son who died at a few days old; a son, Lawrence W.; and a son named Aloys A (A probably for Allan). Alphonso died prob. 6 Aug, 1913 in Lewiston. Some of his family appears in Cook County, Illinois after his death. Does anyone know how I might go about getting an obituary or other record that might give cause of death, family information, etc.? Would really like to hear from anyone who might have any connections to this family.

Rhody E. and T. J. (Jefferson) Franklin, 1900 Fergus Co

I am seeking information on Rhody E. and T. J. [probably Thomas Jefferson] Franklin. Jefferson T. and Rhoda Franklin are listed on the 1900 census living in Giltedge, Fergus Co, Mt. R. E. Shoemake married T. J. Franklin on December 27, 1886 in Cotulla, La Salle Co, TX. Rhody E. was as daughter of James Preston Shoemake and 2nd wife Sarah Louisa Tomerlin Amberson. I believe T. J. Franklin was possibly the son of James M. and Elizabeth Franklin of Wilson Co, TX in 1880. T. J. and Rhody had 2 children born in TX, Fred L. in 1887 and Albert E. in 1889, between Sep of 1889 and March of 1891 they moved to Minnesota and had 2 more children; Carl A. in Mar of 1891 and Vesta in Oct 1892. Between Oct 1892 and Oct of 1894 they moved to MT where Verna was born. In 1910, 4 of the children are living with their aunt Elizabeth Davenport in Dimmit Co, TX. It looks like one son Fred L. stayed in MT and married Katheryn, daughter of Fred Shutes. Does anyone know what happened to Rhoda and T. J. Franklin? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Fergus County marriage record for Jedediah Groesbeck and Frances/Fannie Edna _____?

We just obtained a copy of the 1894 Montana divorce decree for Jedediah D. Groesbeck and Frances/Fannie Edna Ellsworth or Keys (don't know surname for sure). It says they were married May 3, 1885, in Fergus County. If the county wasn't formed until 1886, are there any records from 1885? Does anyone know where to write or ask for a lookup on an 1885 marrriage record?

She was quite a character, often wearing a six-gun into town. According to our history book ,she moved back to the U.S. I'm not researching this lady, but if someone wants some info I will oblige.

1917 Polks Lookup Request for Denton MT

Wondering if anyone out there is doing lookups in Polks City Directories. I am looking for a business known as "OK Billiard Hall" (not sure about the billiard part) that was located in Denton in 1917. My grandfather, Bror Hugo LARSON worked there as a clerk, and his mother-in-law, Lelia LEE (maybe RYDSTROM by then) supposedly owned the establishment. It would be a great help to determine exactly what the name of the business was and where it was located. Thanks in advance for any help or advice!
My grandfather, Homer L. Sparks once owned land in Montana which is listed as follows:

MERIDIAN 20 TWP 020 N RANGE 022 E SECTION 009 ACREAGE 320 TYPE 251101 CASETYPE PA DOCID 913632 DATE 08/02/1923

The land was listed in Lewiston. According to my father, Homer lost his land when he couldn't pay the taxes on it. Does anyone know where this land was located and how can I find out exactly how & why he lost it?

Thanks
Mike

1920 Census shows Lucy B. Bahr/Bahn and husband living in Fergus County, School District 162, ED # 9. Lucy is also listed in my great grandfather's obituary as living in Christina, MT in 1924, so I think I have the right family. Lucy and husband, "O.K.", are in their 40's in the 1920 census, I'm wondering what kind of records exist in MT to find out if they had any children. Lucy is the former Lucy ALLEN of Iowa.

Does anyone know? Lucy would be my mother's "Aunt Lucy" and I would like to get more information about her family.
