In 1900 our family, Joseph Haines, his wife Laural Ann Jones and some of his children ( at least Ashley and Jay but maybe Lewis and Dave )settled briefly in Gallatin County. We know from the 1900 census that they were enumerated in the Middle Creek Precint but know little of this area or why they left. We do know that they came to Canada and some of them settled in the Silver Creek Area of British Columbia, but Joseph left after one of his sons ( Lewis ) was killed and settled in Chico, California. Joseph Haines served under Custer in the Civil War and was injured making life difficult for him from then on. He had four sons, who travelled with him at different times. We are trying to find out where his daughters, Lois and Dellafhen left the family tour and as much as possible of this family as possible.
