Try this site for newspapers

www.coloradohistoricalnewspapers.org
Just type in "Anders" and you will get some hits to look at.

It has some great pieces. There is even a Swedish paper to search also. But, you might try "The Colorado Transcript" first. I believe that is the one I found the Final Settlement article in.
I do not know of any Jefferson County cemeteries online that I would suggest.
Good hunting,
Frank

The LDS Family History Library online catalog indicates that vital records (births, marriages and deaths) for the county of Jefferson in Montana have been copied to microfilm (approximate years included 1895-2003). Those microfilms are available to be ordered and used at any of their network of LDS Family History Centers.

If not, might because the indexer interpreted her name as "Frances"!!
MT, Ravalli County, Stevens Township
Henry H Taylor age 63 born England.
That is where I got the idea the Taylor and Filcher family may be related because Ralph Filcher's father was John Taylor Filcher born 1838 England.
I am searching for decedents of H.F.Noyd of Waterloo, Montana. His given name at birth was Hans Frederick. Throughout his life he went by several different names. They include, Henry, Fred, Frederick, and H.F. He was married twice. With his first wife (Alice) he had a son Ray. Ray died in WWI. He remarried a women a lot younger than him named Kathryn. She apparently had a son Wilbur (listed on Census as stepson but later as Wilbur Noyd). They had Fred, Albert, Bertha, and Catherine. I know that Catherine was married and her last name was Kuki. I don't know if any of these children had kids or not. I would like to find any decedents to tell them more about our family. I have a lot of information about the rest of the family. Also I would like obituaries for any of these people. I know that Catherine died in 2004 in Whitehall.

I never dreamed you would go to so much trouble on my behalf or I would have give "my" Albin's birth date. He was born 12-23-1868 so he would have been 49 in 1917. He came to the USA in 1887 before Ellis Island so I haven't found him there either.
I have very little to go on but a picture of him and a note in my Grandmother's stuff that says "Fredrika's (my greatgrandmother) brother, Albin Johnson, lived in Montana" and family recollection that Fredrika used to travel to Helena, Montana and visit her brother.
It is virtually a dead end especially if the lister did find the right one and he had no family. Oh well, we all need one brick wall to keep us looking.
Thank you for your help.
Diane

Thank you Joe, for answering my query. I have a picture of my Albin Johnson in which he looks in his 30s possibly. He is very well dressed in a suit and tie. He has a pin in his lapel that I am not able to blow up a lot but I was hoping to send it to a library or museum in the Helena region to see if it looks familiar to anyone. I thought if he had worked for a specific mine, it might be a fraternity but absolutely a shot in the dark.
He also may have worked for the railroad when he was young. The Albin information provided by a volunteer on this site is about a single man whose past sounds a lot like my Albin. If it is my Albin, I have no family to follow for him. Sad.
Diane

Would men in the late 1800s have owned gold mines around Clancy in Jefferson Co. or are there big ones they would have just worked in? I am trying to trace an Albin Johnson who supposedly worked in the gold field for 50 years, lived in Clancy and died in Helena. One of your listers found an Albin for me and I located the cemetery and was sent an obit but I don't know how to prove he is mine. I thought maybe there is a state mining something that might have information on a miner.
Thank you for any hints.
Diane

I believe the John T. Filcher you are asking about might be my great grandfather, John Taylor Filcher. My grandfather was his son Ralph, who died in Butte in 1937. My father was Ralph's son Joseph Benjamin who died in Stevensville in 1971.

Yes, I just finished a book about our Mother which I took with me to a family reunion in Helena in June. All this info was in there, but George hadn't seen it when he last talked to you. Our Filcher ancestors were Morman so I have found a lot of info on them on the LDS website. Thx for the info re findagrave I had not known about that one.

George is my brother. Georgia is our Mother. The Taylor's were not relatives, just took her in at age 3 wks, when her mother died. Only info we have is Father, Jacques (James) Hebert, and Mother Grace (Graziella)Demers Hebert, from Ware,or Revere, Mass. Father from Quebec we think. Grace died in 1903 and is buried in Missoula at the Catholic cemetery. Who is the tmZang who was also interested in this, do you know?

My family lore includes stories of individual miners leasing specific parts of mines from their owners and working those as independent operators. These happened in Jefferson County in the late 1870s and later in Butte.

This doesn't answer your question about who might have records you could check, but is mentioned to make sure you are aware that there was a type of activity other than miners being the employees of the mine owners.

Joe Callahan

Albin seemed like an unusual name and I was just working with WWI draft registrations, so I checked there and found five Albin Johnsons in Montana. The potentially interesting thing is that three of them have Albin as a middle name, and if one of those is your Albin (and you were not aware of that detail) it could be hiding some records of him from you. Here is what I found:

Match quality: 3 out of 5 World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918
Military
View Image
Name: Alfred Albin Johnson
Birth: 15 Nov 1891
Birth: Sweden
Residence: Not Stated, Cascade, Montana
Other: Cascade County

Match quality: 3 out of 5 World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918
Military
View Image
Name: Charles Albin Johnson
Birth: 5 Jun 1874
Residence: Not Stated, Hill, Montana
Other: Hill County

Match quality: 3 out of 5 World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918
Military
View Image
Name: Frank Albin Johnson
Birth: 28 Jan 1882
Residence: Not Stated, Stillwater, Montana
Other: Stillwater County

Match quality: 3 out of 5 World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918
Military
View Image
Name: Albin Victalius Johnson
Birth: 1 Mar 1891
Birth: Montana;United States of America
Residence: Not Stated, Cascade, Montana
Other: Cascade County

Match quality: 3 out of 5 World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918
Military
View Image
Name: Albin A Johnson
Birth: 4 Aug 1891
Birth: Wisconsin;United States of America
Residence: Not Stated, Sheridan, Montana
Other: Sheridan County

I hope my curiosity produced something useful to you.

Joe Callahan

Okay! I have done several of my classmates genealogy, just for my own enjoyment. I began looking into George's, (your cousin?) after our 53rd reunion, set it aside and then researched a little more for our 55th..held in Alberton because Stevensville had nothing to accomodate us.
If we both have Ancestry, then we most likely have done the same research. I did ask George if Hebert was his mother's name, and he said yes it was. I believe the Taylor family that took in Georgia after her mother died is a relative, but have not had the time to delve into that more. You and George have an Ancestor with the middle name Taylor....
Things have piled up on me here and must set aside the hunt for a bit again...happy hunting!
Barbara

Well, you have a great brother! Went all 11 grades with him in school. I wish I knew who the TmZang was. You have a great more info that George knew about or recalled...so will put that in the ringbinder I will send him.
I just recall 2 years ago telling me he had no idea who his mother's parents were, and since researching is my favorite pastime,I was on the hunt!!
He had a problem getting his virus protection on his computer re last tel call..so have not heard from him after he left from our reunion.
Thanks for replying..we can work together now..are you working on the Filchers as well? "findagrave.com" is free and several Filchers are buried in Boulder, Jeff Co, MT on that site...have not had then time to put them together.
All for now...Barbara
Boulder MT is in Jeffersn County MT not Pondera County. Perhaps someone in Jeffeson County can help you with this.
AT one time Jefferson County had a web site. I believe it was a genealogy site. Perhaps it is up and running now. I have not been on it for a long time
In a book I have states that the State schools for the deaf, blind and feebleminded were established in 1892. Also the town of Boulder was established in the 1860's - but the name was Boulder Valley. The name was changed in 1897 to Boulder.
Good Luck
Linda

(I believe the initial "W" is an error)
Died: 27 Sep 1947 at 58 years of age
Index #: Bt 16754 ("Bt" indicates Butte, Montana)

BROWN, Agnes
Died: 21 Oct 1936 at 39 years of age
Index #: Bt 10859
----------
If you go to Rootsweb, then click on "Searches," and scroll down to cemetery listings, then go to state and then Silver Bow County, and then enter "Brown" you will find the following information:

BROWN, Agnes C.
Born: 1894
Died: 1936
Buried at Holy Cross Cemetery (Catholic), located at: 4700 Harrison Ave., Butte, MT 59701

BROWN, Harry S.
Born: 04 Sep 1889
Died: 27 Sep 1947
Buried at Holy Cross Cemetery (Catholic), located at: 4700 Harrison Ave., Butte, MT 59701

http://userdb.rootsweb.com/cemeteries/cgi-bin/cemetery.cgi
----------
If you would like to obtain an obituary on Harry or Agnes, you may want to try the Rootsweb Volunteer Obituary Look-up service. There is one volunteer listed for Silver Bow County, that will do obit look-ups in Butte's only daily newspaper, The Montana Standard. Go to:

http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~obitl/volmt.html

I hope you have found the above information useful. I also found a World War I Draft Registration card (6/5/17) for a Harry Brown, but his birthdate was listed as 6/6/1888, and this does not jibe with your info, nor the cemetery info, although errors like this often occur in records. If you want the WWI card information, let me know.
