Margaret Jane Dillon, my elusive g-grandmother

Classification: Query
Surnames: Dillon, Aiken, Whitmore
Hi folks. I need help trying to pin some information down on my g-grandmother. Margaret Jane, M.J. for short, was born in OH around 1860 (maiden name Aiken). She married George Benson Dillon in McArthur, Vinton County. OH in 1879 and had 2 children there, Gertrude Edna and Thomas Edwin (1880-1882). She appears in the 1880 census living with her husband and his mother in Vinton County. Of course the 1890 census is non-existent. I do have a newspaper clipping from McArthur, OH in 1894 that Gertrude Edna Dillon of Hastings, NE is back in McArthur visting her grandfather. MJ and the children are missing in the 1900 census - George is living with his older sister in McArthur, Vinton County, OH but I can find no reference for MJ in OH, NE or CA. She is in Los Angeles in 1910 (per the census), using the name M.J. Whitmore. In 1914 she signed her mother's death certificate in OH as MJ Whitmore.

Any information (or ideas) will be greatly appreciated.
