Hi, My husband's family have Kuehnel's in their Branch. I have not found Minnie Timm's first husband who was a Kuehnel. The children are all buried in Oregon, although Frank's grave has not surfaced yet. Minnie had Four children with ? Kuehnel. One was Frank Augustas Kuehnel. Minnie was born in Black River falls WI.
The name is not very common and there are hardly any online records. I would be happy to have the material and pass it on to any living Kuehnel descendant's I encounter in my research. I am an avid genealogical researcher with 8 trees on Ancestry and a yearly subscription.
Keep well,
Sharon

Hello Shelly,

I see that this post is rather old, so I hope that you still get my message. I have some information for you about Mamie Brezina. I am not related to the Majer family in Ravenna, but Jim and Ave Majer were dear friends of mine and neighbors. Jim had told me before about his uncle and aunt, Brezina, because they used to live where my parents now live (not the same house, but in the same location). Not sure how much I can help but I could possibly get you into contact with the right people. Feel free to email me: kearneysignclub@hotmail.com

Justin

I'm trying to trace a ggg grandfather back to the Hanover, Germany area. His name was John Frederick Lammers (probably Johann Frederich when in Germany). He was born around the 1802-1808 timeframe allegedly around the Hanover, Lower Saxony Germany area. He married a Meta/Mattie (Temmen/Tieman/Teaman) and raised 4 children (Frederick, Anna, Herman, August) in the Danbury, OH (Ottawa County Ohio) area and died there in 1857.

Possibly in Buffalo County, Nebraska where she lived from about 1910-1930s+. I do know when she died and where she is buried in Laramie County, Wyoming. She may have moved to that area.

Christian August Weinbrandt died 22 Sept. 1965. Again like her, he could have died in Buffalo County, Nebraska or Laramie County, Wyoming.

Trying to fit this ancestor into the group. She was the daughter of a gg-grandmother, Sophia (Zable) Sommerville. It has always been a real pain to try and fit her in.

What is known (and provable):

Augusta Louise Zable was born in February 15, 1859 in probably Wisconsin to Sophia and an unknown husband. Louise married a Stanford Lindsay Patterson in Buffalo County on January 8, 1880 and died in Gibbon, Buffalo County in September 1939. She was buried in Stanley Cemetery.

What I would really like to find out is who was her father. Her step-father, John Sommerville, is listed on some documents but he was not her biological father. Anyway short of having to order her death and birth certificates to find this out?

Bob

Bob,

Marriages were definitely recorded by Buffalo County well before 1889 (my own great grandparents were married near Gibbon in 1879, and were recorded in Buffalo County Marriage Records, Volume 2.)

I suggest you find an LDS Family History Center and order the microfilm(s) covering the information.

https://www.familysearch.org/s/catalog/show?uri=http%3A%2F%2...

The Grand Island Independent had a little information on the accident, on WED, AUG 6.
"Victims - Mrs. Mary Lancia, 38, Phoenix; Turiddo Lancia, 40, Phoenix.
The Lancia couple was injured fatally Tuesday when their car was involved in a head-on, side-swipe collision with an auto driven by Mrs. June Wall, Pottstown, PA.
Mrs. Wall was critically injured and was taken to a Kearney hospital. Also hurt was Mrs. Wall's stepson, Jack Wall, 14, Pottstown and Teresa Ginnetti, 65, Phoenix.
State Safety Patrolman Francis Dvorak of Kearney, who investigated, said both cars were demolished in the collision 4-1/2 miles east of Elm Creek on Highway 30."

The Kearney Hub would most likely have more details, but I don't have access to that. Her obituary most likely appeared in a Pennsylvania paper. Hope this helps.

I would appreciate a look-up please...

June was killed in a head-on collision on a road near Kearney, NE. She was driving a Dodge and the other car was a Ford with 2 passengers. I do not know their names nor do I know June's maiden name or where she was from. She was married to my g-uncle John "Jack" Wall, he was born in Indianapolis, IN. I know nothing else about her or the accident other than it is said she lived about 48 hours after the accident. I don't believe she lived in Kearney, I think she was traveling through but I could be wrong. From the pictures I have seen of the accident scene I would be surprised if it did not make any newspaper. Any articles, death notice, obituary, death cert., absolutely any information would be helpful. Thank you.

I can't imagine why they would need an "address" when you have the legal description of the land -- unless they thought it was in a city.
In any case, I'm confident that if you take this info to the Register of Deeds office at the court house in Kearney, they'll be able to show you the history of the deeds to that property.

I'm glad I could help.

You're fantastic!! Think this is exactly what we need to get the information that we need related to who lived on the property and paid the taxes while the family was in IA.

Cornelia F Hendricks Walter moved her family to Divide some time between 1880 ( when they lived in IA) and 1900 when they appeared in the census.

When Cornelia passed on she evidently left the property to her son, Arthur E Walter.

I can never thank you enough for your kindness and expertise in finding this information. We did have a legal description of the property : "lots numbered sixteen, seventeen, twenty and twenty one of section eighteen in township ten north of range sixteen west in the district of lands subject to sale at Grand Island, Nebraska containing one hundred sixty acres." signed by RB Hayes dated June13, 1848. We were told this was not sufficient data - an "address" was needed. I'm hopeful the information you've found should be sufficient to move forward!!!

Blessings!!!

Leslie

Bassett's History of Buffalo County and Its People lists the homesteaders prior to 1880 --
www.rootsweb.com/~nebuffal/bassett/p110.htm
L.G. Walter is listed as having taken a homestead in Divide Twp. in 1876.

Woo-hoo! I just remembered that some Buffalo County land records are on-line. Have a look at
http://www.buffalogov.org/offices/RegisterOfDeeds/landpatent...

Walter, Louis G. G-61 LOTS 16-17-20-21 18-10-16
That means it's recorded in Deed Book 6 p 61. His land was in Section 18 of Range 10 Township 16, which is Divide twp.
Most sections do not have lot numbers, but there's a column of townships (which includes Riverdale, Divide, Rusco, and Loup) that have an extra chunk of land along their western edge. The western-most mile and a half of these twps. are divided into lots.

According to the 1907 atlas, the land was owned by A.E. Walter. In the 1919 atlas, his name was still on it.

A map of Divide twp in the 1919 Atlas is online. See
www.rootsweb.com/~nebuffal/image/atlas/dividetwp.jpg
Find the large number 18 and then look to the left and find lots 16-17-20-21.
With that information, you should be able to get all the info from the court house.
