Hello. I thought maybe Jean was using a site I just discovered, but the crime story wasn't first; rather, an obit for Joseph, who looks like he is Frank's father, and then one for Anna. Nothing really helpful in either of these.

Go to http://fultonhistory.com and enter krulish and you will get quite a list. Note: reading some of this stuff is definitely not for children.

According to the Margie Sobotka book, page 76, the Nebraska Dusatko folks came from Krchleby near Caslav, as Jean said. Records for the 1857 time frame are not yet online at actapublica.eu (Praha archives) but some earlier ones are, and you might find Dusatkos in the 1733 to 1819 timeframe. However, that book is not indexed and it's 339 pages long. That would be difficult, unless the Krchleby records are in a section by themselves. There's a 32 page marriage book that would be easier to read, but it goes to 1840.

Mary

From what I can find, I think these families came from the Caslav region, possibly Krchleby in Kutna Hora. I also find the surnames living in Prague.
I find several stories of a Frank Krulish, who lived on Long Island, and at Bohemiaville, murdered a person by the name of Croupe about Dec 27, 1890.
Why the query post in Butler co., NE?
Jean

I'm no expert on research either, but trying to learn more all the time. There are a number of photos regarding a country school near Hookstras. My gr-gr- aunt, Lena Kayton, taught there in the early 1900s and pictures of her and the students, a school picnic, etc. I'll sort them out and see what District School it was. You'll have to send me some names and I'll see if I have any photos or anything on them too.
Yvonne
Thanks so much Yvonne. I took a quick look at your website -- how wonderful! You are so talented and I am definitely interested in reading your poetry. You must be very busy but it must be so much fun. I'm so glad I met you.

I have been doing more research of late as my Uncle is in his early 90s (his mother was Alfred Hookstra's daughter Marguerite and my grandmother) so I'm trying to gather as much info as I can from him as he is not doing very well. It's so interesting to hear him talk about the 30s and WW2. I'm so glad you salvaged the photos, etc., as it is such a terrible shame that these family histories go in dumpsters. Just recently, I answered a posting about Chauncey Hookstra, whose photo was purchased at a flea market in Arkansas. This lady was trying to find a relative. She mailed me the photo. It was beautiful. He was my great Uncle and I remember meeting him a couple of times. He was two years old when the photo was taken. She buys old photos when she comes across them and tries to find family members. How wonderful.

I would like nothing better than to meet you in David City in the spring. I'm afraid I'm a novice when it comes to research other than on the internet so I'm sure you can teach me a lot! Many years ago, I took my Grandmother to David City/Skyler to visit the one room school house where she taught and to the cemetery where her parents are buried.

If you are ever in the neighborhood, please let me know. I will be caring for my husband after the surgery at home and hope he will be doing fairly well within a month or two. Getting away for a couple of days should not be a problem.

Let's do keep in touch. Have a safe trip to Washington!

Janet

Janet,
I am going to Rapid City to fly out on Thursday, to go to Ellensburg WA to do poetry. I have a website, www.yvonnehollenbeck.com if you want to see what my poetry is about. Kinda like a part time job and having fun doing it.

Anyway, I have a photos of Gayette's line, I'm sure. Frances was an maiden daughter of Minnie Hookstra Creech and James Creech; Minnie was the daughter of Henry Hookstra and Frances (Kayton) Hookstra and Henry was the son of Gayette. I "think" that is right but don't have the records in front of me right now. THey lived along the Platte, North of David City and I also have photos of their farmstead, etc. Henry & Frances (mom called her Aunt Fannie) only had two children, Minnie and Tennis. Tennis never had any children and died in an auto accident, I believe in 1955. He was a real large man and I have a lot of photos of him. Like I say, I do not have any connection with the Hookstra side and have all these nice photos, etc., and would like to find someone that would like them. You are apparently the one.

After Frances died, the friend that was taking care of her estate had sold the house and had a huge dumpster in the driveway and was dumping lots of things into it. She called me (I live on a cattle ranch in SD) and said, "if you want any pictures, come get 'em or they are going in the dumpster" so regardless of the fact that I was helping in the hayfield, feeding men, tending yard and garden, etc., (I think it was late JUly), I left early the next morning and drove to Lincoln and boxed up all the photos and saved them from the dump. I then spent a lot of time the next winter sorting. A lot of them were marked and a lot were not. I was able to identify some because of those that were marked. I sorted into file folders of various families and have tried to distribute them to those various folks. There's a lot of stories regarding the disposition of her estate, etc., but it would take too long to write it all here.

I doctor in Omaha (had a non-malignant brain tumor) and have to go there every October to have an MRI, however, I do get down that way occasionally for other reasons. I have been wanting to just take a couple days and go to the David City area sometime and do some research, etc., and perhaps that can happen in the spring and if so, maybe you could come up and we could research together and get acquainted personally.

I sure hope your husband gets along OK. Keep in touch and I'll do the same.

Yvonne
Jane, Thank you for writing. My mother and Frances Creech were cousins and I ended up with a lot of old photos and items that were nearly disposed of. I sorted photos, etc., and have a lot of Hookstra items. I was related to Frances on the Kayton side and would certainly be willing to share the Hookstra items with you if you would like. I'm going to be gone for a couple of weeks, but could get things sorted and describe them to you after that. I live in South Central South Dakota. Where do you live?

The 1860 federal census of Atlanta Precinct, Logan County, Illinois (page 71) reported Albert Montgomery (b. c1836 in Ill.), his wife Mary (b. c1840 in Ill.), and their two oldest children born by then (Nancy Ellen and Samuel) to be farming there. Living beside them was 55-year-old William Montgomery who was born in Ohio. Perhaps he was Albert's father since Albert reported in the 1880 census of Butler County, Nebraska (Village of Ulysses, p. 5b) that his father was born in Ohio. Also, Alfred and Mary named a son William.

Albert Montgomery and family are also listed in the 1870 federal census of Seward County, Nebraska as living there in Seward Precinct (page 385a). By 1870, they had these 6 children living in their household: Nancy Ellen (b. c1859 in Iowa), Samuel (b. c1860 in Ill.), Clara (b. c1862 in Ill.), William (b. c1863 in Ill.), Edgar (b. c1866 in Neb.), and Robert (b. c1868 in Neb.).

Albert Montgomery and his family went to Seward County, Nebraska to homestead in the late 1860s or early in the year 1870. He later received a homestead patent in this county on May 20, 1875 for 80 acres of land. Just before that, their son Carlos was born c1874 in Neb.

I own Albert Montgomery's homestead patent and would like to contact descendants of this family regarding his homesteading career and what later happened to him. Does anyone have Albert's photograph?

Thank, Robert King
Millie & Anton Prai are buried in the Bohemian cemetary in Wilber, Nebr. Anton at one time owned much property in the Linwood & Schuyler area. Their surviving son, Lewis is buried in Lincoln...and his son is me. I moved from Omaha to Ozark, Mo. I have two large photo books with many pix from that area back in the old days...including a large draft horse valued at 10,000 dollars in 1920.

I do not know of Emil Prai but would like to hear more.

Just call the County Clerk of Butler County and ask. They charge a nominal fee. It's so reasonable that I've ordered about 20 records for people I "might" need to look up.

http://www.co.butler.ne.us/

As of this date, the phone number is on the left, (402) 367-7430 and if you call they will tell you how.

Book 2... fairly early. I'm attaching one from page 341 of the same book to show you what you will be getting. Some of them do list the village where bride or groom were born, others just say "Moravia" etc.

My great-grandmother, Josephine Polivka Fritch, sister to Marie Musil. wife of Vaclav Musil came to America in 1874, both families together. I have found a death date of 1905 for Marie Musil in Omaha, Ne, but by now you probably have this information. I am seeking information on a child 4 yrs old belonging to Frank and Josephine Fritch who traveled to America. The ship manifest shows that he arrived in New York, however, he does not show up on the census records for 1880 so we have no info as to what happened to him or where. I notice that an infant of Vaclav and Marie, one year old, born in 1874 and dies in 1875. Do not know where she is buried but the dates are close enough that I am wondering if this is what happened to Ignatius Hynek Fritch. Would appreciate any info you may have.

My research starts with Joseph and Victoria who came to America in 1876 from Tarnow Poland and settled in Duncan Ne. The line I have been concentrating on is Joseph and Victoria's son, Frank Czapla. However, I do have some data on Joseph and Victoria's children and their children.
I would be delighted to share information with other decendants of Joseph and Victoria Czapla.

He had one brother Alphonse and two sisters Dorothy Mueller and Angie Zack. My grandfather's parents were Joseph Micek and Josephine M Czapala. My grandmother's parents were Jozef Sokol and Wiktorya (Victoria) Kudron. If this helps, let me know. I do have some dates of birth, marriage and immigration. I'm just starting to do some genealogy searching and it was wild to find these two family names pop up--together. Regards, Marsha

My mother, Barbara June Kindler Vetter, passed away in 1995. She kept all the records, so I have pages of stuff, some of which I don't really understand, but most of it is about the other lines.

How are the Dobsons related?
Hibbard Schreckengost was one of 4 children born to Peter D. and Mary Rebecca Patterson Stull. Mary died in 1887 and Peter in 1891 leaving the 4 children orphans. The children were then adopted by different families. Peter and Mary Stull's stone in Allamakee county, Iowa is two hearts together. The only inscription is their last name and Father and Mother. I have information on the Dobsons if anyone is interested.

My great-grandfather Schreckengost was actually adopted into the Schreckengost family, so not blood related. His birth parents' name was Stull. My grandmother (nor I) are not direct descendants, and so I'm not really looking for information myself on that line.

I don't have any information on Dobsons, but I only have Florence Baker Schreckongost's line up to her parents Frederick Becker (later changed to Baker) and Anna Rust.
Hi, I'm Doris Kindler's granddaughter. She is alive, in a nursing home in AZ, though unable to communicate. She just turned 100. I can try to help with genealogy questions, though. They didn't keep up with it as well as I could have wished, but I have some information.

I am working wih my cousins on our family tree. We live in Seattle Washington. Two of Milo's sisters, Blanche and Maguerite married two brothers. They lived in Washington State. Their children are my second cousins. One of my second cousins visited her grandparents in Nebraska in the 1940s when your father was living with them there. My cousins are also interested in making contact with their Simanek relatives. It has been 10 years since you posted this inquiry, but I am hoping that you are still checking Ancestry and will reply. I will also try your e-mail addresses
Sally Clarke
alsalcom@comcast.net
Seattle

I had a message sent to me from a Diana Folkers Tidball and I cannot get to the message or reply, because Yahoo has messed up my Email address.
Therefore I have changed my Email address to marie50313@mchsi.com .
The Email Diana sent was about Maggie Daro. Her maiden name was Maggie Hanner and she married a Daro. Yes they were in Nebraska at one time. I will have to check her obit to see where they lived.
If Diana is reading this I hope she sees my new Email address, because I would like to reply.
Thank you
Ellen McCulloch

Gerald, you can send any files you want to my email, dhanner@earthlink.net, I know my father in law Richard (Dick) has been trying to research on Louise Arenholz, when she was alive she won't say much, but we have found some things out anyway. Just had some luck with a census report from Iowa in 1895. I will forward it to you if you send me your email. I also think I may have found a death certificate for Sophie Arenholz in St Louis Mo in early 1900. This would be consistant with what Dick has told me. Dick doesn't have email, but I either print or forward to his daughter most of what I find out. Where are you located? I'm sticking on some more of my surnames I am looking for just to hope.

I have some authenticated stuff that I'll be happy to share with you. I see that you are searching some of the same names that I am. By the way, William Hanner's wife was Dora Fricke. I'm not too surprised to see that you're searching Arenholz; that and the Albrecht lines are of interest to me too.
