Believe I have communicated with your mother Barbara in the past. We are distantly related though Mary Etna Bayless who married Homer McKelvie. Our relationship goes back a couple more generations. You are descended from Richard Bayles born 1805 and I am from Asahel Bayless born 1809.Both were sons of Joseph Bayles and Elizabeth Osman who were born in NY and settled in Ohio about 1817. I'm still trying to find Joseph's parents. My hunch is that he is from the Bayles (Bailes) family of Orange Co. NY but I can't tie it down.
Will be glad to share what I have on the Bayles-McKelvey line. I started out tracing Asahel's siblings & where-ever possible I followed the lines on down hoping I could find someone who knew something about Joseph's ancestry. I have not posted the family history on Ancestry or Rootsweb but now that I am retired, I'm thinking about doing so. I've got a lot of editing to do (taking out info on living persons and making sure I have cited sources wherever possible) so it will be a while.
