I researching family that died in the Sutton area in or around 1902-1907.
The two individuals I am looking for are my great great great grandmother and her son.
Maria (Mary) Loeb Themmes - died around 1907 (?).
Maria's son Father George A Loeb - died while visiting family in 1902. He was a priest from Texas, born in Illinois.

I believe the two of them were buried in a Sutton area cemetery. I have looked on the Find-a-grave website, but neither one are listed.

Any help is appreciated.
Jeanette
Yes I could try that. Thank you.
For Rena Strandberg, sister of Charles, there is a marker in Potter cemetery, Cheyenne Co., Nebraska.

http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=87...
Found Nov. 9, 2012 None for husband Albro Ames or her brother Charles A. Strandberg and wife Edith. I believe this is where Charles and Edith were buried. They always seemed to migrate back to Potter. Charles' parents lived there.

Elsie

Hi, No I didn't post a query for Wallace Co. Kansas but just now checked cemetery listings there and didn't find them. Edith died in 1976 in Axtell, Kearney Co., Nebraska.
I could try asking about them in the Wallace Co. cemetery from the person who has some listings there. And then try Sharon Springs, Kansas as you suggested.

Rena Strandberg Ames, sister of Charles was the 3rd wife of Dr. Albro Ames who had been married 2nd to Nettie Sleer, also a doctor. They graduated from the same John Creighton Medical College in Omaha at the same time. She is on my Sleer family tree.

Thank you for your help.

Did you post a query on the Sharon Springs/Wallace Co, KS
page to see if they are buried there? Charles A and his
wife, Edith were in Sharon Springs on the 1940 Census. On the 1930 Census they were in Saronville/Clay/NE.

Charles completed his WWI draft registration at Sidney/Cheyenne/NE with his mailing address as Potter/Cheyenne, NE. His contact is listed as his sister
Rena Ames at Potter, NE.

I noticed Paul and Phillip the sons of Charles and Edith
are buried in Sharon Springs, KS. You could write to the
cemetery at Sharon Springs and ask if they have a burial for
Charles and Edith. Or, they may be buried near family at Potter, NE

Strandberg of Sharon Springs, Kans., a former pastor, will speak at the morning worship service.

Is there anyone who might remember Reverend Charles A Strandberg? He was born 28 May 1877 in Sweden and went to Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois to become a minister. Is there a Lutheran church still in Saronville, Nebraska?
Farm of William and Ellen Brown in Fairfield, Clay Co. NE.

They are on the 1900 census. I believe Ellen Brown's maiden name was Knight, and their daughter Alice Brown married a Hutchison based on a group of photos I have found at an antique store.

I share your frustration. I believe that my great grandfathers brothers 1st wife died in Edgar in the same year. There is no death record nor was the records for the old funeral home still available some people think that information was thrown away. The only information that even pointed out that she died in Edgar was Church records. Perps the Adams County Genealogical Society could help you. Good Luck

Re: House fire in 1968

Hi, Melanie,

Helen (DeJung) Marburger was my aunt. My father, LeeRoy DeJung, was her youngest brother. I don't have any specific information on the fire, but my father used to talk about it, so I do have stories that he told me. I also have a couple photos of your grandmother with my father.

He told me that there was a gas leak and the house just exploded. The older children escaped injury on the first floor, but Helen and the baby she was shielding with her body were burned. The baby lived with severe burns, but Helen died. My dad said that she was in a lot of pain and suffered greatly. I believe he said that she lived three days or so. I know my father loved his sister very much, and that she was the only daughter in a family of boys. After he was discharged from the Navy in the 1950s, he stored many of his belongings at Helen's. So, in addition to losing his sister in the fire, he also lost all of his photos, uniforms, etc.

I hope this helps. If you have any questions, you can e-mail me at: lori.a.hall@gmail.com

Lori (DeJung) Hall
