Canton Commercial Advertiser, St Lawrence County, New York. April 12, 1932.
Letters and papers were received here recently announcing the death of Mrs J. J. McGowan at her home in Schuyler, Nebraska following an extended period of illness. Funeral services and requiem mass took place the Tuesday morning following at St Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, of that City.
Mrs. McGowan before marriage was Margaret Boyle, a native of Pierrepont Center, St Lawrence County, born April 22, 1863, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Boyle of that town, and a sister of Timothy Boyle, now a citizen of this village. She was educated in the schools of Canton and at the age of 20 went to Staplehurst, Nebraska, and engaged in teaching. in 1887 she was married to James J McGowan at Seward, Neb. For a number of years the couple resided in Seward County, removing from there to Greeley and from there to Schuyler where their home has been to this time.
Mrs McGowan leaves her husband, three daughters, and four sons, all residents of the Middle West; one sister Julia Boyle of New York, and a brother Timothy Boyle of Canton.
(Margaret Boyle McGowan was a niece of Mary (Murphy) Reynolds, wife of John C Reynolds. Her parents were Patrick Boyle and Margaret Murphy. She's on the 1885 Census in their household near Staplehurst.)
