Good morning all,
I have embarked on a journey to find the biological parents of twin boys, Robert and Richard, born 6 May 1921, in Nebraska, probably in Omaha. The story is they were orphaned at an early age. It is unknown exactly where the boys were born or what their original last names were, parents, siblings, etc.
The adoptive parents were Albert J. Fry and Catherine R. Whitaker. They were married in Red Cloud, Webster Co, NE on 18 Mar 1908. They show up in the 1910, 20, 30, and 40 NE Census:
1910 - Red Cloud, Webster Co, NE
Albert J. Frey, 27
1920 - Line, Webster Co, NE
Bert A.J. Fry, 37
Katherine R., 40
1930 - Omaha, Douglas Co, NE
Albert J. Frye, 47
Mary F. Frye, 86 (Albert's mother)
1940 - Omaha, Douglas Co, NE
Albert J. Fry, 57
Katherine R, 60
Robert L., 18
Richard F., 18
Ethyl L. Whitaker, 21 (Katherine's niece)
Albert is listed in the City Directory of Omaha in 1923. So am surmising that there is a good chance that the twin boys were born in Omaha as a few years later in Omaha they are in the 1930 Census with Albert and Catherine.
Is there any way of finding birth certificates of Robert and Richard simply based on the birth date and first names? Could the parents have been in an accident and died leaving the boys as orphans? Would this possibly be printed in the local newspaper at the time, say sometime between 1921 and 1930? It's a large range of years.
I appreciate any help you might be able to provide. Maybe someone recognizes these boys and can shed a little light on the subject.
Thank you in advance!!
