Christina Miller Barth was my grandmother. My mother told me this about Christina: Christina married Adam Barth and had several children. My father Clarence Barth was one of them. My father died of a hemorrhagic stroke in 1956. He was in his early 40's. I had a hemorrhagic stoke at the age of 54. It was nearly fatal and I am quite dissabled from it. Christina and Adam emmigated with Jacob Barth. We asssume he was a bother of Adam or possibly their son. He died in Cilbertson , NE and is buried there. Christina had three daughters. My mother believes that they died as young women, but she does not know the cause. One of the daughters was named Ella and one Marie. Please e-mail e with any information you have. I have a picture of Christina somewhere. I will try to find it. Are we related. If you have more questions, I'll ask Mom. My mother, Christina's daughter-in-law is now 87 years old, but has a great memory. Christina's grave is in the Campbell, NE Presbyterian cemetery.
Sincerely,
Ardene Barth

My husband's mother is Dolores, who as you know is the half sister to your grandfather. Would love to get in contact with you and see where you stand in your research. Mine keep hitting brick walls every where... I had found at one time a John Kocian which was Lillians maiden name, who died in 1906 in Seattle and often wondered if it was her dad. Any way would love to speak or get in touch with you. Angelique Stokes

Then I click on the web that this Lynn has. I have used her a number of times. Takes a dollar a little while for her to send back your request, but it was worth it for me. I checked it out and there are 4 Hickmans buried at Naponee. A couple have obituaries but think William just has a card. Hope this helps you.

Don't know which one it is...but think I usually go to the first place. Go to the web site...something like www.roots.comnefranklin, or something like that. Then click on the S surname. There is an August St. Clair and they have a Card, Death notice, and Obituary. It costs $1.00 and the wait isn't very long. You email this lady and she does the rest. Hope this will help you.

I am looking at this family because his son Harry Earl Quinn married Ora Losey the daughter of Uriah Marion Losey and Sylvia Levina Shuck Losey. Ora died and he remarried Edna Morlan. James H. Quinn and his wife Anna Marshall Quinn are buried in San Diego, California. I am at this point trying to find out where Harry Earl and Edna Quinn are buried and what happened to their daughter Leola.

I do know that Chester H Quinn was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa according to one of his marriages,so that may be a clue as to James H. Quinn's parents.
I am going to see what the earlier census has about his parents.

Look on findagrave in San Diego County, CA to find the burial spot of James H. and his wife.

It looks as if you may be new to this type of research so I am offering broad hints. I tried another spelling and found quite a bit. [Since I am not searching this family, I am not in a position to evaluate the information.] Suggest that you search Arthur Soucie. There are several interconnected researchers on Rootsweb.com who have their lines available. You can contact these contributors through Rootsweb/Ancestry. These possible cousins can help you sharing what they have and guiding you in your own research. You could start there and fill in some of the information that is similar to your own. Use what you find as CLUES and not evidence until you have found the documentation. There is a list for Soucy. There are boards for Soucie and Soucy and some similar names. If you don't already know some of the variant spellings for the surname, you will learn more there. The Rootsweb trees will show possible links on Ancestry.com.(The little green leaf may show even if without a subscription.) You can SEARCH both for free. To read the answers on Ancestry you will need a subscription of your own or one through a repository such as a public library or a genealogy society library. Some Family History Centers have recently added Ancestry.com access (after several years without). You will see census records, social security death records(free), draft records, and more. Ancestry cannot be remotely accessed from home through a library subscription.
From the census records you can learn the names of additonal family members in the household and years or month year of birth. Next April the 1940 US Census will be available from National Archives. Numerous libraries also have subscriptions to Heritage Quest online. This can be accessed from home as well through the libraries which have it. You can check your library's participation by going to its website and looking for genealogy resources or online subscriptions. You will learn which branch has the subscription if the system is subscribes. You will see is Heritage Quest is available. Sometimes you may have difficulty with a faint image on Ancestry often due to the quality of the original. Ancestry continually works to improve them as much as possible. One for your Arthur is faint. On Heritage Quest there is a feature to invert the image and make it white on black. Suggest that you try it.
www.findagrave has user contributors of cemetery information. I looked to it for Soucie in Nebraska and found your Arthur and Rose with photos of their markers. In their cases only the years of their births and deaths are given. Some contributors post additional info including names of family, obituaries, and even photos. You can learn the name and location of the cemetery. You can search by cemetery and by name of the individual. When there is no cemetery known some may have posted there to a "virtual cemetery." Don't forget to look for other Nebraska sites. Try "Franklin County Nebraska Genealogy." Hope this launches your work.

I am hoping someone can help me with an obituary look up.
Mabel Marie Larson was born in Nebraska in 1892. I have heard that she was put in an orphanage around 1910 or 1911 when she became pregnant by her father. She had a son 25 of December 1911 - Carl Irvin, not sure what last name he had, perhaps Larson. Carl died 27 July 1913 with the name Carl Irvin Young in Phillips County, Kansas. His mother Mabel Marie had married Earl James Young on 30 April 1913 in Phillips County, Kansas. I am trying to find out more about her parents and siblings and am hoping her obit can help. I know she has an Obit indexed in Franklin County, Nebraska. Thanks for ANY help!

Anyone have information about the land holdings of Eilert Schmidt in Franklin co. NE around 1900? My great-grandfather worked for/with Eilert from 1901-1913. I need to find out where they lived, I'm assuming on land that Eilert owned. Also, I have some old pix of a family that "might" be Eilert and Helena Schmidt. If anyone happens to be related to these Schmidts and can identify them from these old pix, I would be appreciative

I am trying to help a friend with his family history research. His ggg grandparents were David T. Jones (born 19 May 1811 Wales - died 14 April 1888 Macon, Franklin Co., NE) and Sarah Humphreys (born 05 Nov 1815 Wales - died 14 May 1900 in Macon, Franklin Co., NE). A son was named Lemuel T. Jones (born 1841 Pennsylvania - died 17 Sept 1936 in Macon, Franklin Co., NE) married Elma Rice? (1859 - 1936). On a census, it states that Lemuel Jones was a doctor in Franklin Co., NE. Is there any kind of a family biography in Franklin Co. for these families? David T. Jones was a tailor. Would appreciate hearing from anyone who is connected to this family. Thank you.
Kay
Roseville, MN

Yes this does help. The one person in it that I know is my G-grandfather Geo. W. Chapman who homesteaded just over the Kansas line(Sumner Township). He donated land for Inavale School on the south east corner of his homestead. I know he was very involved with that school and lots of family members attended school there including my Dad. I know the mailing address Naponee. Some of the family lived in the Turkey Creek area and some lived in and around Republican City. Do you know how I might get everyone in the picture identified?

Southeast of Naponee and Southwest of Bloomington
I hope this helps
Respectfully
J Olson

At that time the Croley and Jonas families lived near Fairland Indiana. Isaac & Mary moved to Naponee, Nebraska in late 1875 where they farmed homestead land. Charlotte relocated there sometime after that and is baried in the Naponee cemetery. I have what remains of May Louisa's photo album containing pictures of several Jonases including a picture I believe to br Charlotte and Joseph. --Don Croley

Re: Collison and Collison Wrench or Flour Mill

According to my grandather, Rolland Colison, his father Rudy Collison invented the Collison wrench. Rudy owned and operated a flour mill in Bruning, Nebraska. I believe he ran a mill in Ord, Nebraska before this. The patent is under Roland's name. Also, he stated that William Petersen had been friends with Rudy and then went on to invent and patent the vice-grip. I can find more information if you are interested.

I am also updating what I have found so far. My name is Brad Johnson and Elmer Chalupa was my Grandfather. I will send you an invitation to the family tree so you can see who is who and when. Looks like we are long lost relatives on the Chalupa-Johnson Side. My Grandmother was Fransic Chalupa and was previously married to Elwood Duncan which is my mom's maiden name.

We have a big tree to go over and look forward to getting information from you also.
Lillian Edgar was maiden name born abt 1892

Thanks!
Brad Johnson

Hello
The Franklin Library in Franklin, Nebraska has copies of old newspapers from Franklin County. However the last I knew they did not have a microfilm copier. That has been some time ago perhaps they have been able to get one. Perhaps you can get the newspapers through an inter library loan. You could inquire by calling this library at 308-425-3162.
