I found this on find a grave for St Joseph Catholic Cemetery at Paul NE. Note 2 different death dates. --Hope it helps. -- Maxine Schatz, Nemaha County.----

Veronica Ulbrich Megnin born -Dec., 1853, Germany
Death: Apr. 28, 1940, Talmage,Otoe County,Nebraska, USA.

Veronica Ulbrich was born DEC-__-1853 in Prussia and migrated to the United States about 1862 and died MAY-02-1946 in Talmage, Otoe County, Nebraska.


On JUL-24-1867 in what would become Jefferson County, Nebraska, Veronica and her younger brother Peter, were captured by Indians. They were put on horses and taken away. After traveling several miles, Peter was shot and killed and his remains remained undiscovered until the location was pointed out by Veronica after her release from captivity. Veronica was held captive for a period of time. ---

She married Alfred Megnin, NOV-23-1887 in Talmage, Otoe County, Nebraska. He was born OCT-14-1864 in France and migrated to the United States in 1884 and died FEB-12-1960 in Grand Island, Hall County, Nebraska and is buried in Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Nebraska. ---
