There are two Nebraska Supreme Court Case involving a dispute over the Maria Panko estate. They recite that Maria Panko could not speak English, nor German very well either, but mainly Wendish. If you google Wendish or Sorbian it will tell you all about it. One article recites there were two Wendish or Sorbian settlments in the US - one in Texas and one in Johnson County, Nebraska.
