My father's family came from Lewiston, NE. Robert L. Stewart homsteaded there in 1866. He married Martha or Mattie Jane Simms-Stewart of Irish descent. She died in 1887 at 39 years of age. Their union brought John Edie Stewart(b 5/18/1874, d. 12/9/1943), Ella, Dora and Lizzie. John married Susie Edith Youngs-Stewart and they had four children - Mattie Adelia Stewart-Cary (my grandmother); Gladys Stewart-Badgett; Lloyd Stewart;Mildred Stewart-Brandt.
