In answer to your posting about Frank Bowman family. The Frank I am looking for had a son named John Bowman born in 1873 in Austra according to the information on the marriage license of John Bowman and Theresa Grace Elizabeth Johnson Herbst at Madison County on March 9, 1908. This information came from the Marriage Record/License which stated Frank Bowman living in Stanton County as father and mother Marci?. I am trying to locate any information on John Bowman who was living in Omaha on December 1909. I haven't been able to find him in any other records since then. I do have all the information on Theresa Bowman. Thank you for your information. Robert

Robert,
I see you have limited number of postings on Rootsweb. When you post, it is important to provide some criteria information on the person you seek. That prevents you receiving wrong information or information you already have. I first did a background from your posted family tree and other postings. I'll provide that information for use of other bonifide research volunteers:

John Bowman in your family tree:
http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/501740/person/-2074917496
Shows born 1873 in Germany. Identifies he married Theresa Johnson Herbst, 9 Mar 1908 in Madison Co, NE. In another posting you identify his father Frank and wife Mari lived in Stanton Co, per the information on the marriage license.
I am "assuming" the year and place of birth were from his marriage license?

Iola Bowman from your family tree:
http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/501740/person/-2074932989?ssr...=

Another family tree shows her mother Theresa Elizabeth Gres Johnson, married Herbst in 1889, married John "Bowmen" on 9 Mar 1908. Nice pic of Theresa:
http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/9659736/person/6653590747
This person shows John as born in Austria in 1873.

The 1910 Census of Omaha, Douglas Co, NE
Iola living in the Childs Saving Institute, age 9/12.

In another posting(s), you were looking for the obit of Sgt John F. Bowman, who died Sep 1912, is buried in the Dayton National Cemetery, Dayton, OH.
--The Cemetery identifies this person as being a Sgt in the Civil War, died 9/22/1912. His name was John "T" Bowman. So, the wrong person.

The WWI Draft Registration Card image database:
--A John F. Bowman, born Feb 25, 1873, living in Bruning, Thayer, NE; but is shown as born a native citizen of the US. He was a farmer. Nearest Relative: Katherina Bowman. His burial eliminates this person:
http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GSln=bo... John Frank Bowman, born Sep 28, 1880, living in Stanton, Stanton Co, NE; but also shown native born. He is a farmer for Walter Zunder, nearest relative: Tensie B. Bowman. The 1910 Census of Stanton shows this person and eliminates him also.
--There were 85 John Bowman, born plus/minus two years of 1873 in the US. A large number of cards had the year of birth off by one year, mostly in the last registration 1918.

I did a number of searches for John and Fran* (the asterik is a wild card that allows any letters following to be identified in search results, i.e. Frances, Franck, etc). I searched the 1900 and 1910 Census with those first names and NO last name. I searched the Land Patents issued. AND other database systems.

I'd suggest to re-examine the marriage license for any additional clues, making sure the ages, location of residence, birth locations, etc.

Then, if there is no additional data, you'll have to start in Stanton County (hopefully a town is named). The County Clerk office does not do research, so you'd have to "hire" someone. I do NOT recommend hiring genealogists. There are EXCELLENT ones out there, but also those that take your money then say nothing was found, or give you wrong information (That you will also get online from volunteer "researchers.").

The name "Bowman" may or may not have been the true German spelling, but an Americanized/Angelicanized name. If John was born in Germany/Austria/Bohemia, etc, he may not have immigrated until after 1900. I did look for Bauman, Boughman, but I would have had better success with the first name only search as conducted, then look at spellings.

Good Luck.

A relative of mine, Rev. John T(Thomas) Crooks, died in Pilger, Stanton County, NE, Sept 10, 1896. He was only 39 years old (b Jan 15, 1857 in [West] Virginia). He was married to Mary (Mollie) A. Ghent (m Aug 11, 1878). They had three daughters. His father was Rev. Charles F. (C. F.) Crooks and his mother Mary Hanks.

This is the extent of the information I have on him except for him living in his father's household in 1860 and 1870. If anyone can help with an obituary or the 1895 Stanton County Census, or some other information, I would be greatly appreciative.

Thanks in advance,
Mark Songer

Hi,

I'm hoping somebody on this list can help me.

I am looking for the obituary of John (Johann) H (Hinrich) Beselin (Beseling) to verify this info that I have. I found a tombstone photo on the "Findagrave" website of John H Beselin, Bethlehem Cemetery, Stanton Co., Nebraska and the birth date is an exact match for my person. The info on the wife's tombstone doesn't match but that may be his second wife. Not sure. Assuming Bertha Beselin is his wife.

Baptismal register of the Evangelic Lutheran church in Wesselburen, Germany born on 17, Dec., 1840, baptized on 17, Jan., 1841 Johann Hinrich Beseling from Suderdeich, an illegitimate child of Wiebke Catharina Rehder of that place, who is a daughter of the local labourer Johann Rehder. Alleged father to this child is the farmhand, Hans Hinrich Beseling, from Tetenbull, now resident here, who has done the impregnation in her parents' home.
Godparents: Gustav Wilhelm Carstens of this place, Claus Stark Voss, Juliane Margaretha Rehder.

Marriage register of the Evangelic Lutheran church in Busum, 1868 record #6, married on 07, Jun., 1868 The bachelor Johann Hinrich Beseling from Suderdeich, own son of Wiebke Catharina Rehder of that place (28 years, 6 months) united in marriage to the virgin Anna Magdalena Peters, a legitimate daughter of Claus Hinrich Peters, a carpenter in Westerdeichstrich, and of Margaretha Elsabea, nee Hennings (age 19 years, 5 months).

He immigrated to the USA in 1881. I have noticed that there are no matches for Beseling in the SSI but there are 6 matches for Beselin. I think the "g" in their name got dropped when they came to the USA.

Any questions, please ask.

Many thanks,
Rod Peters

re Otto Perske

Your last respondent was partially correct. Otto did have three children however Nathan and Betty(Bohac)were from his first marriage to Clara Glaser, Harlan is his son from his second marriage after Clara's death. Harlan's mother was Margaret Harms. Harlan was my father, both him and Nathan are deceased. Otto was the son of Gustav and Pauline(Klatt) they had eight children. Sons Otto, Adolph, Paul and daughters Mina, Elsa, Helene, Leona, and Martha. Hope this clarifies things

The best way to get obituaries from old Nebraska newspapers is through the Nebraska State Historical Society. They have a large collection and I have had very good luck going through them. Here's the link:

http://www.nebraskahistory.org/lib-arch/services/refrence/la...

Happy Hunting!

Wynn

Lottie did marry Hubert and she did die in 1923. My mother Maxine was her youngest child (born in 1922). It's been a while since I've done geneology for my mom, but I will dig out what i've got. My mother was the youngest of 6 children: Ada, Audrey, Marian, Julia, John (Jack) and Maxine. There was one child that died at or near birth somewhere in there. Audrey, Julia and Maxine are still alive. Do you have any information on the Charles Wood line. I could never get very far back on the Wood tree. Feel free to email me at baeselfam@aol.com. Annette

Charles and Hattie Montgomery Wood were living in Dewey Precint in 1910. Their children were Lulu, Charles, Walter, Laura and Lottie (twins) Effie, Orville, Opal, Leonard, Verne, Pearl and Ruby. I believe Lottie married Hubert William Bartlett in 1907 in Pilger and she died 1923 in Stanton. They had seven children, names unknown.
If anyone is related or knows of this family would very much appreciate hearing. Thanks

Are you still looking for BURCH's? I have traced some BURCH relatives to Stanton County and hope to connect with some cousins. I have info about the family of Grafton and Nancy BURCH from Virginia. Grafton's father James moved from Virginia to Missouri in the 1850's and from there to Nebraska in the 1860's. I can also connect the BENHAM name to the BURCH family, although I have not researched Wm Benham BURCH. Please contact me if you are still looking or have more info on the BRUCH's.

Lamont

I am trying to find an obituary or burial record for Frank A. and Louise M. (Feyerherm) Kuester. They lived in Stanton, and had one son, Harvey. I have that Frank died in 1954, but have no further information on a death date or burial. Any additional information on this family would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Kendra Hoffman
