My great-aunt, Della Virginia Plate was born in Virginia City in the 1800's. She was the daughter of John Plate and Mary Emily Thurman who moved to Virginia City from Merced, California for several years in the 1800s and then returned to Madera, California. Any information about this surname will be appreciated.
