Thanks for your findings, Cheryl. I have seen that yr of 1869. However he appears in the 1870 Census, ae 85, living in Meredith Village, NH. I also found him alive filing his Pension Claim for War of 1812 with info as follows:

Age 78 at date of Claim filed - between Feb 1871 and April 20, 1871

His age at that time is not correct for he was b. as you found, 3 Jan 1787. The year 1871 would have made him 74 at that time.

Still hoping for a death date!
