Had one known son: Caleb James BUFFUM (1894-1951).

Pete was my grandfather. My dad is Michael Janiszyn. How did you come up with the names Mary Anders, Alex Tysiak, and Mary Donello? Pete's last name (Janiszyn) was originally spelled Yonishyn we think. The army changed the spelling to be more phonetic. In Ukrainian Y makes the J sound...

Foster family of Swanzey, N.H. and Waitsfield, Vt.

I am looking for the parents of Joel (1764-1850), Lydia and Nathaniel (1772-?) Foster. The siblings were born in Swanzey, N.H., and all later moved to Waitsfield, Vt. Joel married Martha Whitcomb of Swanzey, Nathaniel married Martha's sister, Silence Whitcomb, and Lydia married Thomas Green. Some online genealogies state their father was Philemon Foster of Swanzey but I have been unable to find any reference to him. He is not mentioned in Benjamin Read's history of Swanzey. Any clues would be greatly appreciated.

Jacob STAPLE(s) and wife Lois (EDSON) lived in Westmoreland, Cheshire Co NH abt 1767. They were from Bridgewater MA, and exact move to NH is not known. Their marriage appears in the VR of Bridgewater MA; their children's births do NOT.
They may have moved to Westmoreland soon after their 1765 MA marriage.
10 Feb 1788 - Marriage of Chloe STAPLE(s) to William GOODENOW in Westmoreland. (source: Westmoreland Town History and GOODENOW History by Banvard 1994).

.....The first proprietor's meeting was held at Concord, Mass., June 27, 1734, later in October 1734 some land was divided into sixty-three lots, equal as practicable in area and quality, and appointed Eleazer Robbins, Nathaniel Hammond, Ephraim Jones, Benjamin Read and Nathaniel Mattoon, as a committee to make such a division....

Benjamin Read is mentioned several more times in connection to the division of lots through to 1736.

Seems Benjamin Read was probably born about 1700, maybe in MA., but looks like he received lots of land in Swanzey NH ~ hoping to find further information on Benjamin Read...marriage, children etc.

I would suspect that the Benjamin Read who published the book History of Swanzey around 1892 is a descendant?

In the book The History of Gilsum NH it says...... on the 22d of August 1786, a peititon signed by a number of residents of Keene, Stoddard, and Gilsum was presented to the legislature, praying that portions of those towns and of Nelson be formed into a new township. This petition was granted, and on the 27 of September 1787, the township of Sullivan was incorporated.......

The following now proves that the farm owned by William Corey and bought by John Reed in 1789 was originally in Gilsum NH (William Corey is listed in the inhabitants of Gilsom/ Gilsum see below)....

In 1787 two signers of a document requesting a change in the boundaries were Lemll Holmes and Absalom Kingsbery [sic]. Dec 20, 1793 a petition regarding the boundary was signed by selectmen of Keene, and these two selectmen from Sullivan:
Erastus Hubbard and Eliakim Nims.

This information may be helpful to other researchers who are looking for their ancestors in these towns.

Perhaps records for the John Reed mentioned in the book History of Sullivan are to be found in Gilsum NH?

I have got the " History of Sullivan " books and for the most part you are right, he did own the William Corey place and then sold it a few months later to John Rowe, the book further states that it is quite likely that he was ever married as there is no record of any marriage, birth or death, in any such family, and he never became an actual resident of the town. please e-mail me with any response.

Apparently he bought the farm of William COREY in that year and sold it a few months later to John ROWE....would really appreciate help with finding further information, or any info that might provide some leads about this John REED ~ parents, who he married, children??? Yes, the cemeteries do go back that far.
Unfortunately this Warner family was not buried here. Possibly they were buried near where their children lived.
From "History of Westmoreland":
Joshua Warner son of Daniel was b.Ipswich MA May 16, 1700, d. Bradford MA 1785, m. in Bradford Jan 12, 1732 to Mary Hutchins. They had 9 children including your William b. Mar 28, 1739 and d. Aug 16, 1823, m. in Westmoreland Oct 31, 1765 to Hannah Wilbur.It appears they had 5 children who settled in the Chester, Grafton VT area?

Looking for information on the marriage of Waitstill Scott's Daughter Eunice, to Squire Darby. I have a date of April 22, 1783 in Westmoreland, but don't know if that is correct. I also need information on their children. I believe they had four children while in Westmoreland...Eunice, Lucy, George, and Martin. I have Martin's birthdate as being in July or August of 1790, but have not been able to find a recor of it, and I have no information on any of the other three children's birth.

To Whomever,Your Patrick Murry was B: 1828 in Ireland and he D: 6-1-1899 in Walpole,NH but and a big but he apparently is not buried there, I have all of the cemetery records for Walpole and he is not listed, I'm not saying that he isn't buried there just that the book does not list him. Also he married Mary Delaney B: ca1828 Ireland and D: 7- 1896 in Chelsea,MA, in October of 1873 Patrick had one of his legs amputated because of an accident. if you need further info I do not have it, but if you send me your mailing address I can photo-copy these pages for you, it goes up to 4 generations.

I am trying to find my g-g-g-grandparents. William Warner (1740 - 1810) married Hannah Wilbur. His father was Joshua Warner (Born about 1718).

I am wondering if there is a cemetery in Westmoreland, or nearby, which goes back that far. My guess is there might be a Warner plot in that cemetery. Any help would be great.

Saw your note mentioning Helen Gallagher. Her great grandmother (Bridget "Beasie")was your grandmother's(Jane) sister. Both of them were my grandfather's (Patrick)sisters. Helen died several years ago. She was married with 3 sons and one grand daughter and since has a grand son. I remember you and Billy living on Ash street ... I also lived there.

I am a grandchild of Patrick and Hannora. They lived on Ash Street (7) and Pete and Cate lived @ 5 Ash St.. I noted some messages from Bonnie. I remember her and her brother Billy. They moved to FL long ago. There are still lots of relatives in North Walpole and the surrounding towns.

Hello perhaps you can help me out. Does your book list Ambrose Peacock, with a brother Charles. Ambrose was about 8 in 1850 but listed as head of household so presumably his parents had died. They lived in Albany New York, These boys and their father were born in New York.

I have paper-work compiled by a Peacock genealogist from 1984. She lists John Peacock from Cheshire as a solider in the French Wars as noted in the "History of Hardwick Mass" by Louise Paige. She states that his son John Peacock Jr. was an Adjutant in the regiment of Col. Ruggles.
However, in the "History of Chesterfield", it is the Senior John Peacock married to Esther Lessley that she describes as an Adjutant.

Does anyone know if the were both adjutants?

Any info on the John Peacocks would be much appreciated.

Seven children are listed in the 1860 Jaffrey Census, named: Orin D. (ba.1843-NH); George O. (ba.1845-NH); Mary Elizabeth “Abbie” (ba.1848-NH), future w/o John W. POOLE (ba.1846-NH); Susan L. (ba.1851-NH); Martha Jane “Jennie” (ba.1853-NH); Daniel M. (ba.1855-NH): Fred H. (ba.1859-NH).

I believe that at least two more were born after 1860, named: Eliza M. (ba.1864-NH) & Austin (ba.1866-NH).

Apparently Daniel & Abigail both died prior to the 1870 census, the younger children that I could locate were
“farmed out” to relatives:

Martha is listed in Fredonia, Chautauqua County, New York with her aunt & uncle, Rufus & Elizabeth (PRESCOTT) HAYWOOD in the 1865, 1870, 1875, 1880, 1892 census. Martha was the first Regent of the Benjamin PRESCOTT Chapter of the DAR in Fredonia, she later relocated to Berkeley, California to live with her grandniece, Amy POOLE, where she died in 1926, she is buried in Forest Hill Cemetery in Fredonia.

Fred was listed with Polly PRESCOTT (age 76y) in Cheshire County, New Hampshire in the 1870 census.

Eliza M. was listed in Fredonia, Chautauqua County, New York with her aunt & uncle, Oliver P. & Susan M. PRESCOTT in the 1870 & 1880 census, but not 1875.

Austin was listed in McDonough County, Illinois with his aunt & uncle, Benjamin & Lavina PRESCOTT in the 1870 census, and in Topeka, Shawnee County, Kansas in 1880.

The two eldest sons, Orin & George, were probably caught up in the Civil War, Susan was probably married prior to 1870, I have not yet located young Daniel.

I am related to this PRESCOTT family only through the POOLE family on my mother’s side.

From Daughters, American Revolution, New York (Chapters) 1891-1923, the Fredonia Chapter - Benjamin PRESCOTT: Colonel Benjamin Prescott settled in Jaffrey in 1774, living in a log house until 1775. At the raising of his farm house, a party from Rindge, on their way to the defense of Charlestown, assisted.
Col Prescott, while acting as a spy, on the day previous to the battle, was taken prisoner by the British and made his escape the same day. He died March 7, 1829, age 85y. Not transcribed here are any post war descriptions of how highly esteemed he was.

Can anyone provide me with an overview of Daniel C. PRESCOTT’s siblings and parents ?

Also can anyone supply any particulars of Col. PRESCOTT’s Revolutionary War activities, is acting as a spy, being captured and escaping, enough to be honored by having a DAR Chapter named after you ? What was Col. Prescott’s relationship to Daniel C. Prescott ?

My wife's 4th great grandfather married a Sally Prescott. She was originally from Sterling,Massachusetts. Her father was Peter Prescott. He lived in Sterling,Then moved to Fitzwilliam around 1790.
Sally Prescott married Israel Fisher around 1801. Is there a connection here?

Hoping to find further information on Rhoda Chapman born abt1789 Sullivan NH (Sullivan became Gilsum NH). Rhoda the daughter of John Chapman and Mary Rowe, believe several lines from this family went to Grafton, Windham Co., Vermont.

I am looking for any information on Patrick Murray or his wife Mary Murray from Walpole New Hampshire. Patrick died in Walpole, New Hampshire in 1899, Mary died in 1896 in Chelsea MA (I think).
