Tobias Connell came to Boston aboard the ship St. Petersburg on August 20, 1849 with four brothers and a sister. He stayed in Massachusetts traveling north to Tynsborough co. (accoding to 1850 Census) where he meets his wife Mary Huffman. They settled on a farm just across the state line in Hudson, Hillsborough co, New Hampshire. Their children include Felix, Robert, James, Mary and Fannie.

His brothers went to Indiana to work on the Railroads and then settled in Adams Co. Wisconsin. Another sister settled in the Buffalo, NY area.
