Deceased Name: Kenneth H. Welch
NORTH WOODSTOCK -- Kenneth H. Welch, 78, of Lost River Road, died March 10, 2009, at Speare Memorial Hospital, Plymouth.

He was born in Woodsville, Aug. 18, 1930, to Freeman and Effie (Greene) Welch. He attended Bath and Woodsville schools. He lived most of his life in the Woodstock area. For several years he spent his winters in Florida.

He owned and operated Ken's Gulf Station in Woodstock for many years and sold snowmobiles.

He served the town of Woodstock as a police officer and firefighter.

He was a life member of the Woodstock Fire Dept. He also worked for the Woodstock Public Works Dept. and the incinerator. Most recently he worked for Lost River Valley Campground.

He was a life-time member of Parker Masonic Lodge 97 of Woodstock. He enjoyed his camp at Elbow Pond, bird watching, card games, car racing and spending time with his family and friends.

He was predeceased by his wife, Ruth (Jones) Welch, in 2006.

Family members include three sons, Steve Welch and Michael Welch, both of North Woodstock, and Ronald Welch of Franklin, N.C.; four sisters, Madeline Estes of East Hartford, Conn., Hazel Carr and Shirley Fadden, both of North Haverhill, and Ruth Boemig of Stark, Fla.; four brothers, Allen Welch of Enfield, Conn., Bernard Welch of East Hampton, Conn., Max Welch of East Hartford, Conn., and Arthur Welch of Garden Grove, Calif.; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

SERVICES: Calling hours will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Edmund Fournier Funeral Home, 144 Main St., North Woodstock. Graveside service will be at Woodstock Cemetery at a time to be announced in the spring.

NORTH WOODSTOCK --Ruth M. Welch, 76, of Lost River Road North, died Sept. 28, 2006, at her residence.

Mrs. Welch was born in Mechanic Falls, Maine, on June 27, 1930, the daughter of Leon Harold and Verna Winnefred Jones. She attended Mechanic Falls Schools.

She worked as a clerk for many area businesses including Lost River Camp Ground in North Woodstock and J. J. Hardware in Lincoln.

She was instrumental in founding the Woodstock Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and was a member of the organization for many years. She enjoyed crafts, crocheting and spending time with her family.

She was predeceased by a son, Larry Welch, who died Feb.15, 1992.

Family members include her husband of 56 years, Kenneth H. Welch of North Woodstock; three sons; Steve Welch and Michael Welch, both of North Woodstock, and Ronald Welch of Franklin, N.C.; a daughter, Lisa Gagnon of South Ryegate, Vt.; a stepsister, Edith Larson of Parson, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

SERVICES: A graveside service will be at Woodstock Cemetery, Route 3 Woodstock, at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, with the Rev. Skip Schwarz officiating.
