Is there anyone that could do a quick check of births for Concord, Merrimack, NH for Fanny Smith? We have a bible record that states she was born in Concord (MA) 01May1795. However, her later censuses always indicate she was born in NH.

Thank you in advance for any help you can give!

Wondering if you have a Joshua Young married to a Morrill. Joshua born around 1730's in New Hampshire. The Morrill name is used in 4 generations of Young's.
Noah Morrill Young, Morrill Noah Young, Albert Morrill Logan Young & Edward Morrill Young. Seems like I should have some connection to the Morrill family.

My grandmother was a Morrill from Franklin, NH Merrimack county. She had several sisters and brothers and they did own and still own homes in Ward one, West Franklin on and around Lawndale Ave. We have an entire printed history of the Morrill Family. Grandmother was Dorothy Morrill and She married a Cilley. They had 10 children. She is buried in the Franklin Cemetery and died at the age of 94. I'll look up my history i have and see if I can help you trace any of my family back to your family.

I have this information in my records: Sept. 1632 starting with Abraham Morrill arriving on a ship with his brother Issac. The ship was called the Lion. He appears he settled in Cambridge, Ma. First mention of anyone in a NH town was Ware, Nh in 1766. Jabez Morrill born 2-15-1744 or 45 died 8-26-1800 married Hannah Clough of poplin. born 1741 died 9-13-1807. I have records up to 1953.

Hi, that's great! Maybe you can help me. Charles is my 1st cousin 2x removed. He's my great grandmother's nephew.

I'm looking for, Charles' sister, Lillian Agnes Blair Smith's death date sometime after 1950. Her husband died Ross George Smith died 20 Dec 1949. I would like to know where they are buried also. I found where his son is buried and I did call that cemetery in Derry and they said Lillian and Ross were not buried there, I did call couple other cemeteries but nothing. I did find his mom but his dad George P Smith is still in the air, figured it out that he isn't the one who died in NH but might be the one who died in Maine in 1883. Still looking that up.

I do have all the obits of the Blairs I could get a hold from Maine, NH, Mass, and Nova Scotia. I can email you that file. I like to see if Lillian and Ross have obits so I can add them to my file.

Many Thanks! Beatrice

If you have an actual date of death, did you try writing or emailing the local library and/or newspaper for a copy of the obituary? They may charge a small fee, but it could give you all the information you're trying to find. Including the funeral home (often a source of information,) cemetery, etc.

I don't have a car and there's no way I can get there. I need information on two people. In exchange, I would be willing to help you if you need something from Portland, Maine. I'm a member of Maine Historical Society and can visit local cemeteries to take pictures of grave sites and see who else is buried with the person.
Thanks, Beatrice

Did he serve in the military?
Did he have children?

The range of years I found are from 1887 to 1934.
Towns in Merrimack county I found are Suncook, Allenstown, Pembroke, and in Coos County there are two in Berlin, in Hillsborough county there is one.

If you can, find some more clues to get a better reponse.

I just returned from a trip to the Concord, NH area and found Hazen Abbott, his wife Emma, and daughter Florence's (and her husband George P. Colby 1880-1919) stones in Maple Grove Cemetery, Concord, NH. I wonder if this Colby is a relation to your Colby family?? I'll need to look into it!

Published in the Concord Monitor, Sept. 9, 2005;
Mercedes M. Adams, Concord-
September 9, 2005
Mercedes M. Adams, 79, of Concord, died Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2005, at Concord Hospital.
Calling hours and services will not be held.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Merrimack County Nursing Home, Edna McKenna Fund, 325 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen 03303-2410.
AFCS-Affordable Funeral and Cremation Services is in charge of the arrangements.

This was the only obit I could find, it doesn't mention burial. I checked the 2005 Boscawen Town Report, her death is listed there, parents were Forest Sensiba & Myrtle Newton. You could try calling Blossom Hill Cemetery in Concord, 603-225-3911, they have records for all the cemeteries in Concord. Her death cert. should list place of burial, you can get an application on this site; www.sos.nh.gov/vitalrecords/ELIGIBILITY.htr cost for a death cert. is $15.00. Hope this helps!

Hello Sherri,

I have not researched anything in a long time. Started on the Welcome family, something, just told me that I should be of help if I could.

Going slow, maybe once a week, however. If you would like me to start off with someone in your family that you could use some answers about. Then I am willing to invest some work on your behalf.

I might be able to find out if John Charland, at some point had some legal issues.

Please contact me at neuronmotor@yahoo. com

We can talk some more. Also, if you can let me know your family line concerning the Welcomes, I might come across some additional information for you.

Best wishes,
Beth

I too am searching for information concerning the Welcome- Charland family.

My great grandmother Elizabeth May McArdle-Charland-Palmer-Chapman - was born in Manchester, Nh, Feb. 1901. Although it is believed she was adopted by Angie (Angelina) Cote (Cotey) and John McArdle (McCardle).

Angie was of canadian decent, John, European. Angie had also been a missionary in India at some point of her life.

John Charland was arrested for either attempting to shoot or for shooting the sheriff. Bessie was looking at possibly being fined for with holding information concerning this incident. I believe the crime was committed by John and his brother Peter. I found the short article on ancestry.com.

My grandmother Mary Helen aka Helen always felt she and her siblings had been deserted by their father. After locating the article, I am beginning to think they were shielded from the truth concerning their father, just a theory.

I am assuming my great great grandfather, John McArdle passed away sometime in the 1920's, I am assuming in NH. Angie most likely passed in CT sometime during the late 1940s, as my mom was born in 1937 and has memories of Angie.

Any info you would be willing to share would be appreciated.

Thank you so much!

Sherri

yes my grandmother married James. Her parents were William Bienvenue and Maria Louise Cloutier. They were divorced I believe all though never found divorce record. He apparently was in prison in Concord with a family member (last name ) Charland. my grandmother had several other siblings as well, one died at birth and another from the elements, and twin bothers where they lived somewhere up North, she was raised in Brentwood yes, I do not know why she was moved to Franklin Nh. as I said I found paperwork that was sent to the orphanage in 1926, that she had a child. so she would have been 17 at that time but didn't state if she had the child in 1926 or just that is when they received the letter. I know she was sent to Vermont to an aunt's house off and on during her stay in Brentwood...My grandmother's mother later took on the name Louise Bienvenue and worked at the mills in Manchester Nh. As I said I am not sure why she was sent to Franklin Nh, but I am in the process of trying to make a trip up there to go through records, she was sent all over as a child but never left the custody of the orphanage, so I am trying to find this baby she had. My email is Highkidder@aol.com. Thank you for your help in my quest. It has been difficult to do my search as my family was split up and raised in orphanages and my grandfather came from Albania and names were changed altogether. He did not speak English and I only had an address on an envelope from Korcha Albania, so I do so appreciate all the help you have given. Thank you from the bottom of my heart
Hello,

Like to have all my ducks in a row, helps me lay out a plan on the best way to start any research. These things, you probably know.
Let me know what may be true.

Your grandmother married James, on Nov. 23, 1935, they lived in Manchester, NH.

Louse passed away July 13, 1996 at Merrimack.

In 1920, your grandmother was at a place called Webster Place, Franklin, NH.

In 1919, she was at the Rockingham County Farm at Brentwood, NH.
She was there with her siblings:
Joseph born about 1906
William 1907
and her sister Katherine born about 1909

Parents are listed as being born in Vermont.
If the is true her parents may have been Joseph and Louise. If this information is true, then something happened, that drove the couple apart.

Let me know what may be true. Plan to go to Brentwood tomorrow to begin the dig. Will do my best to get you a picture.
Do you have your grandmother's obit? That would also be a very good place to start.

Best wishes,
Beth

Hi all,

I'm also trying to find the connection between my family and Franklin Pierce... I've been told he was a cousin or something on my greatgrandmother's side... her last name was Haines, but I think it was on her mother's side, and I don't have a maiden name there. Hmm, maybe it was Pierce!

Any help would be appreciated!

Lynne Canham

I get Heritage Quest at home using my MA library card. Maybe your library has online resources for genealogical research. It's a valuable tool.

Lois
