I saw Joshua Mills Brown death certificate. His birth was 1805 in Jones Mills, NJ. There are a few, but most likely the one down across the way from Chatsworth as he sometimes taught school in Warren Grove which is right through the woods from there. His mother and father are definitely listed as Simeon and Nancy Anne Brown., I do not remember if Nancy Anne's entire first name was used or just one of her names nancy or Anne.
Regarding Howard Brown and Leon Brown - they definitely knew each other and knew they were related. Why were there two Joshua's in this family? I have no idea but I speculate that the first was not raised with his parents and may have been raised by a relative or someone as he was born before they married in 1808. He would have been about three then. My grandpop Leon knew that Simeon was his great-grandfather and talked about him as such. Looking at the map, Cassville, NJ, formerly Goshen, where Joshua ended up, was not too far from Jones Mills and Warren Grove. Also, my grandpop said that the folks from Cassville came down to Pennypot to see Simeon. About the death of Nancy Anne listed as Buena - it was more specifically Newtonville, according to Leon Brown.
Looking for Simeon's parents for over thirty years!
