TAYLOR, MATLACK, BARCLAY, HANCE all of these surnames crop up in my peripheral family surnames. For instance: Barclay EYRE md: 1867 Emma D TAYLOR then of Loudoun County, VA. They lived in Bucks county, PA 45 years then moved to Washington,DC. See my post regarding James PENNELL and Jemima MATLACK. Barclay EYRE was a son of Preston EYRE and Macre PICKERING who md: in 1840 in central PA then returned to Bucks county, PA. Preston EYRE was a son of Isaac EYRE and Ann PRESTON. Isaac EYRE was a son of Isaac EYRE b:1740 and Eleanor COOPER. Isaac b:1740 was a son of William EYRE and Mary DAVID. William EYRE was a son of Robert[1] EYRE and Ann SMITH, dtr of Francis SMITH. Robert[1] EYRE was from Devizes, Wiltshire, England as was Francis SMITH. He served an apprenticeship under William ROGERS, a merchant of Bristol. He then sailed as a supercargo for several years before settling in the Burlington area, married Ann SMITH and then moved on to Bethel twp, PA where he d:sometime after 1710 and before 1726.
