Hello,
First of all, I am NO relative to these people, but have been on a mission for a couple of years now to return a 100 year old German made wooden art kit (empty) to family of the original owner - Klara/Clara WACKENHUTH. It is likely not very valuable, but her name is written, likely in her own hand, inside in 2 places.
I have found no reason why the box should be in Ontario, Canada (where I live) but that is where it was purchased at auction 2-4 years ago. I have learned that a Clara WACKENHUTH was b. 16 April 1889 to Frederick C. WACKENHUTH & Christina D. KREITLER in Newark NJ. She married in 1914 to William C. STOBAEUS (b. 13 October 1885, Newark NJ, s/o J.B. STOBAEUS & Louise M. SHEUTZ.) I only know of 2 children for this couple ...
Frederick STOBAEUS July 30, 1915 - Sept. 18, 1989
Barbara C. STOBAEUS 20 January, 1917 - 8 February, 2004
Looking for any WACKENHUTH or STOBAEUS family members who might know of a Canadian connection. If this artifact belonged to my ancestor, I would be eager to get it back. Hoping to finally send it to it's rightful owners 1 day. Thanks!
Mary
