Catholic Churches in Newark

I am trying to find a marriage record for my great grandparents.(John Colbert and Mary Nash/Ashe) They were married around 1883. He lived in NYC and she lived in East Orange NJ. Her brother was a founding trustee of Our Lady Help of Christians, but the church wasn't built yet and there is no record of a marriage for them. I've checked St. John's in Orange - nothing. I did contact Seton Hall and got some information but it is confusing.

Before they lived in East Orange they lived in Newark:
275 Warren Street; 89 Bruce Street, and 3 Wallace Place:
They arrived from Ireland in 1872, so she married about 10 years later.
I wonder if she didn't go back to her first parish.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
