I'm not 100% certain Morris died in Bloomfield but the last city directory finding of him in 1949 is in the Bloomfield Directory.
b. 5 Dec 1888 Austria d. 23 Jan 1952 Essex Co, NJ
He is buried in the Grove St. Hebrew Cemetery, Newark.
He arrived sometime around 1910 for Austria. The trail is cold from 1910 back.
As near as we can determine, upon arrival his name was Moshe Katzenellenbogen but he went by the English name Morris. The immigration people thought "Katzenellenbogen" would be too difficult to pronounce & work with so the name was changed to "Redis", apparently a description of Morris' hair or complextion.
We're hoping someone in the Newark/Bloomfield area can locate an obit or other death information for Morris. We're hoping an obit might mention his hometown or parents.
