Here's the process for the Newark Library to obtain obits:
We have the Newark Evening News from 1883 to 1972; the Newark Star-Eagle from 1907-December 1939; the Newark Star-Ledger from December 1939 to today; the Newark Daily Advertiser from 1832-1907 (this paper published two or three death notices a day, sometimes none); the Newark Daily Mercury from 1849-1863 (end of 1861 and all of 1862 are not available).

We search for up to three obituaries for $15.00 and have a maximum of three obituaries per month. We search for the obituaries before charging patrons. You can pay with a check made payable to Newark Public Library and addressed Attn: CFCNJIC, Newark Public Library, PO Box 630, Newark, NJ 07101-0630 or by calling us and providing us with a credit card number.

Thank you for contacting Newark Public Library and best of luck with your research!
