The Archdiocese of Newark (of which St. Michael's is a part) had all of their sacramental records microfilmed by the LDS, unlike some of the surrounding dioceses. Seton Hall, where the archives of the archdiocese are located, is very genealogically friendly.

You might also try to find yearbook pictures of your relatives from the high school. My mom graduated in 1939 and she had many pictures in her yearbook.
