marriages in Greenville

Surnames: Garvin Gasque
I just received copies of marraige entries from the state for James Garvin/Emma Gasque, who were married on 9 Apr 1870. Oddly, there are two different returns, one for Bayonne with Fr. Loomis (sp?) marrying them; the other is for Greenville with Revd. Mr. Clements (sp?) marrying them. Both ministers lived in Greenville, both returns say the marriage was in Greenville, but the couple's residence is listed as Bayonne in one and Greenville in the other. (It wouldn't surprise me if they were a Catholic/Protestant couple, which might explain two ceremonies. Or perhaps two different officiators from the same church registered it in the two different places.)

My purpose in tracking this is to hopefully find parents listed for James. Unfortunately, one return has no parents listed; the other shows her father, but only a blank for him.

My next goal is to find which churches Rev. Clements and Father Loomis were at. Does anyone have any idea how to go about this? Thanks very much.
