Hello to all interested in the Kinderfreund. If this is at the address 93 Nelson Avenue, Jersey City, I believe at the time period mentioned in the below emails, my Grand Parents, Pastor E. Albert Sievert and his wife Elsie were the directors of the Kinderfreund. I am just reading through her old journals from that time period and thought I would search online for more information on the Kinderfreund. Thank you very much for giving out the source of the records. In her journal of 1945 there are several entries of problems. Children fighting, getting hurt, state authorities inspecting the home, children being placed elsewhere, it seems that the Kinderfreund would be soon closing. Albert retired in 1946. I am interested in learning more about the Kinderfreund as my mother lived there during her teenage years. I have photos of the Kinderfreund and Old Folks Home and could share them with anyone, my things are all in a mess right now since we jsut recently moved and everything is still in boxes.
