I'm doing some research for a client whose ancestors appear to have lived in an area of Trenton known in the newspapers as "The Swamp". The family I am researching lived specifically on South Feeder Street, and appear quite frequently in the news for offenses mostly related to the operation of a disorderly house. I've looked around the internet a bit, but I'm not finding much in the way of information about this area of Trenton. I gather from the newspaper articles I'm reading that it was not one of the nicer areas of town. Does anyone know the background of the area in the 1880's, or could point me to a source that would describe it? I'd like to let my client know more about it. Thank you!
