I'm looking for more information on Joseph and Catharine/Catherine James. They ended up in Warren County, OH on 22 Oct 1805 when Joseph purchased land there. Their oldest sons, William and Aaron in that order) were both born in New Jersey in 1797 and 1801 respectively.
Unfortunately Joseph died young (1814), so not sure if he was born in New Jersey, but Catharine survived him, and in the 1850 census it says she was born in New Jersey. Furthermore I have her birth date at 03 Jan 1775 per her tombstone, unfortunately I don't know her maiden name and where in New Jersey she was born.
If anyone can help me that would be great! I'm looking for:
1) A marriage record in NJ for these 2.
2) Possibly any probate records between 1801 and 1805 that would have given Joseph and Catherine the jump start financially to move to Ohio.
3) Any birth records in 1797 for a William James and 1801 for an Aaron James. I have the actual date/month/year if that helps.
Potentially Joseph could be the son of a William, and potentially Catherine's last name could be Hutchinson (as that is Aaron's middle name) and possibly the daughter of an Aaron?? Just going off the names of the children. It's also possible that another son was born and died and this could be throwing me off track as well.
Again any help or direction would be great. Aaron married a Dunham in Ohio whose family was originally from New Brunswick, Middlesex, NJ, so it is possible the James family was from there? Also I believe Joseph was Methodist at least at some point in Ohio, and possibly even in New Jersey?
I do know there was a Catherine Hutchinson who's birth date was either exactly on or 10 days off of the birthdate of my Catherine. This Catherine was the youngest daughter of a William James from Windsor, Middlesex, NJ, and her brothers were active in the Methodist Church, so I wonder if she is my ancestor or not. Unfortunately I have no proof, however a source I saw said this Catherine married a Joseph James, but I'm not sure where the source got that information. Any help here would be greatly appreciated!!
Respectfully,
Kevin Strattan
