WOW! WOW! WOW!
Thank you so much for these obits!
George's obit may be short but it contains a vital clue for me. I've been trying for awhile to locate a specific DOD and burial for George's wife Minnie.
From a site for the Sea Girt Lighthouse and a couple of other tidbits, I've sort of narrowed down Minnie's death to the beginning of Aug 1930 but have had no luck in locating an obit to learn of her burial place.
She had died at Shinnecock Lighthouse, Hampton Bays, LI. The local newspaper there on microfilm at the Hampton Bays library didn't go back that far & the budget doesn't permit getting a copy of Minnie's death cert. so I was stuck until this copy of George's obit!
The fact that George was buried in Laurel Grove Cemetery in Port Jervis means it's a fairly good chance that Minnie is buried there, too.
George's mother-in-law, Alice DeBow Smith nee Bevans is in Laurel Grove. I suspect also that his two sister-in-laws, Martha Howe nee DeBow & Grace Lambert nee DeBow might be there as well.
The obit also tells me that George's daughter Alice was still working as the Supervisor of Nursing at the VA hospital in Washington, DC & hadn't yet met & married her husband so that narrows things down a bit for her marriage time frame.
I learned a bit about Lucy I hadn't known. I didn't know she'd also gone to college. I had always thought her sister Alice was the only one to have gotten a degree.
Again, I can't thank you enough!
