I can't believe I haven't found this guy anywhere!
I have an wonderful old tin-type (yes, actually metal!) photograph of Niart and his big catch of the season- an 18 1/2 pound bass with the newspaper clipping describing it, dated looks like 1891. I have also seen his name in deeds and survey records of the old family home dated in the late 1800s. Also have photos of Niart (1887) and his lovely wife or sister Mary1892. Probably sister, as she sort of looks like him around the mouth.
