Kathy,
There was a John Dowling/Dowlan/Dorland/Dolan/etc. who married Rachael (?). He was born 1780-1790 in Morris County and removed to Orange County, NY where I believe he died. He had children as follows:
1. Elizabeth (1818-1859) who married Daniel Green of Southfields, NY
2. William (1821-?) who married Mary Cable. They had a large family and resided in Warwick, NY.
3. James (1822-1887) who married Emily A. Jones. This was also a large family that removed from Monroe, NY to Michigan.
4. John (1825-after 1880) who married Sarah Whitmore. Another large family which lived in Warwick, NY. Later much of this family moved back to Morris County, NJ.
5. Theodore (1830-1909) who married Margueritte Henion. They lived in Monroe, Tuxedo and Ossining. Another good sized family.
6. David (1834-1905), a Civil War veteran who married but appears to have had no survivors. He wandered around NY most of his life.
There were at least 5 other children who I have not identified, and my information on this family is spotty. They were not literate, and any help on piecing this together would be greatly appreciated.
