Classification: Query
Surnames: Austin, Doty
I just found this on a website researching the same person.

The Austin name is given many different spellings and I encourage researchers to check all variations.
Subject: Moses Austin (Osten, Austen)has been this families brick wall and there is much to be thankful for as this year new pieces were placed in this puzzle.
Westmoreland Co. Fairfield Twp. census 1790 lists Moses Osten (114)and Venango Co. Irwin Twp. census 1800 lists Moses Austen (1111). Then we hit paydirt! LDS has WILL of Moses Austin 13 sep 1806 Venango Co. Scrubgrass Twp. Listing his wife, Sarah and children: Mary Davison, Aaron Austin, Hiley Leonard, Charlotte Austin.
This man loved his wife and family but left life in 1806 at an early age. abt 56 yrs old. We find all of our surnames in Fairfield and Derry Twp. and again in Venango Co. Irwin and Scrubgrass Twp. For those searching this family the following will hopfully assist your search.
Moses Austin and Samuel Doty (of Mayflower Edward Doty)are tied together in 1801 When Aaron Austin marries Hannah Doty. The oldest daughter of Samuel Doty 1755 NJ - 1828 OH and wife Mary Brown. Hannah 1783 NJ - 1865 OH and Aaron 1778 NJ - 1860 OH sell a farm to Moses and Sarah in 1804, lands cleared previous to marriage to lands, this sounds like Samuel gifted his dau. and new son-in-law with a farm. in Venango Co. Scrubgrass Twp. Aaron purchased 400 acre plantation from John Leonard and Alexander Brown and developed the farm and a Mill. This farm was sold to James Hughes for $2,000 in 1813. As Aaron and Hannah were headed to Ohio on a flatboat.
They had 3 sons and 2 daughters on the 1810 census Venango Co. PA. 1802 Moses, ?, 1810 Samuel whose Obit states he was born in Westmoreland Co. PA. Hetty, Mary. The Dotys were well established in Westmoreland Co. and common to the times it seems they were back and forth with seasons or life situations between Westmoreland and Venango.
Mary Davison is the oldest Child of Moses and Sarah and the name is too common for current success in tracking her and her family. What has been found: Mary Ann Austin married Thomas Davison in 1806 Venango Co. PA. I know Samuel and Mary Doty also have a daughter Mary who marries a Moses Davison and they are found on the 1810 census Venango Co. Scrubgrass Twp. beside Samuel Doty, Moses Davison, Sarah Austin. (Moses has passed in 1806).
