I live in the historic house of Lavinia Utter Berry whose second husband was B.F. (Benjamin Franklin) Predmore, in Sparta NJ.
Do you or your husband know anything about the house? I'm trying to trace its history.
Town historical documents show that Mrs. B.F. Predmore managed the boarding house as The Sunset Cottage in 1905. The house took overflow guests from the Everitt House.
When was the house originally built? Was the original land bought from George B. Beatty? The hearth room has brick noggin walls which might suggest the house is older than the 1865 dates in the architectural survey. But it is not listed in 1865 Hopkins Map.
One of the first school houses was said to be a log structure on Thomas Beatty's land. Is this connected.
Thanks for any help, Tara
