I have read a few of your messages and find errors in them. First, I am the grand-daughter of Thalis and Omah Mitchell Cook. My grandmother delivered me into this world. Her name is Omah Mitchell Cook, not Omah Ledah Cook. Your grandfather was Ernest James Cook. He was married to Dora Lois Boysten Cook. They had three children (my first cousins) Marion Elizabeth, Karen Arlene and Franklin Winston James. Frank is the only one living. He is your uncle. My brother Leonard Thalis called me and we talked for about an hour this evening. I probably know more about the Mitchell and Cook side of the family than any one. I will be happy to share all this information with you. My cousin Lavern Holloman who is 75 years old also knows just about as much as I do...she has shared a lot of information with me. She is the granddaughter of Emma Cook Kinnebrew, the first cousin to your grandfather.
I remember your mother, she was a very beautiful woman. I have a lovely picture of her when she was in her early teens.
I think the world of Frank Cook, he is just a wonderful person!
Let me hear from you. I can trace the James Collins Cook family (father of Thalis Cook) back to Alabama, and other members back to the Republic of Texas. The information I have comes directly from family members such as Thalis's sisters and his relatives.
The Mitchell's came to New Mexico just after the Civil War. I have a picture of Dyre Mitchell (Omah's Father) on my dining room table. He was an early miner in the Mogollon,New Mexico aea. They also have an interesting history.
Sincerely, Omah Ledah Martin Desmare
