I have traced my ALLEN line back into Allegany County through Leroy ALLEN born there August 12, 1830. He married Melissa LEWIS on January 1, 1854, presumably in the same county. Melissa was born about October 27, 1834 but I am not sure where in New York exactly. They had at least two children there - Sarah and Augusta Mae - before moving to Michigan in 1868. They lived in Ionia County with a few other ALLEN families which were also from New York though I am not sure of the connection(s). Later they moved to South Dakota. I would appreciate any help on tracing either line back further.
