John BELLE was born in Geneva, N.Y., in 1803, and came to Allegany county at an early date. He married, Miss Sarah T. SMITH for his first wife. She died in 1848, and in 1850 he married Miss Maria DEAN, a native of New Jersey. Her father, Daniel DEAN, was an early hotel keeper, and he acted as agent for Judge Philip CHURCH in selling land. He died in Ontario county, nearly ninety-six years old. Mr. J. BELLE is a farmer and blacksmith.
