Looking for information on the Charles and Amos Perry families who lived in Independence(Whitesville and Willing) in the mid to later 1800s.They were both wagonmakers from MA.Charles was married to Mehitable Wortendyke for awhile and had some children.Jesse Perry was Charles's son born in Willing in 1837.I think Charles and Amos were related.I would like to know where in MA Charles is from and who his Parents were.Charles lived in Genesee PA for a time.I don't know much about Amos.I've got a very old photo album of the William Perry family who lived in Genesee in the later 1800s to early 1900s.I don't know any of the people in the album but William Perry was Jesse Perrys' son. Some of the pictures are from the 1890s.Would love to share info with Perry relatives and compare pictures.Any help would be greatly appreciated.-----------Terry Wilcox, William Perrys great-grandson

Seeking information on Oscar Thomas, born about 1836, NY. He is married in the 1880 census of Scio, NY with wife Emily (Emma Hawley according to son's burial record). Cannot find him after that date and assume he died prior to 1900

In the 1880 census, it listed a daughter Rose and a son Clayton. In 1921, that same son is listed as Arthur Clayton Thomas in burial records, married to a Frances Hamm Thomas and listed as son of Oscar and Emma. I cannot find ARthur in 1910 or 1910 census. There is a listing for a Clayton Thomas with wife Fanny, son Claude. However, Frances was almost 10 years older then Arthur...something not noted in the census. According to relatives, there was a daughter Betsey born to Arthur and Francine as well.
Arthur died in 1921 and is buried in Allentown. FRances died in 1965 at the age of 99. Have nothing on Rose Thomas, his siser.

Any help much appreciated.

Thank you for your time.

I would very much like to know who were the parents (and their ancestry) of John Mead who was buried in the Maplelawn Cemetery in Bolivar and lived from 1792 to 1862. I know that he married Eva Scisson. My great great grandmother was Sophia Ann Mead, who married Theron Cooper. One source said her parents were John and Catherine of Bolivar, but I think the Catherine part is just simply wrong, and it must be this John and Eva. Would appreciate verification of that. (sorry I'm away from home, and don't have further dates and info. from my notes) Thanks.

Her birthdate was 1758. I believe she is listed in the 1830 census for Hezekiah Wadsworth as her age would agree with the one female listed in the census info. She died that year. Hezekiah later moved to Harborcreek PA and is buried there but she is not buried there. I would like information if it is available. I have found reference to a Mary A. Wadsworth but no date. She did have a daughter Abigail.

He was my great great great grandfather, and I have been trying to validate our family history that he is descended from Eudocia Rawlinson. His church birth record from Maidstone All Saints' lists Sarah as his mother, but I wonder if that is because Eudocia is reported to have died when he was young. Would love to exchange information.

I am looking for any information on Andrew Hawley (c.1778-1857, son of Silas) and wife Polly Ward. I believe Andrew was a pioneer in the Cuba area of Allegany County.

I am especially interested in learning the names of the parents and/or siblings of Polly to see if she connects to my Ward family of Ontario County, NY.

Sharon
Welland, Ontario, Canada

In "Angelica Collectanea & Obituaries" I found the following in a cemetery call "As the Day Dawns":
Lionel W Keiser
John Keiser
Jennie Keiser
Fred Keiser
All buried in lot 149
Cardine (Caroline?)Kaiser
John Kaiser
Buried in lot 239

This "Collectanea" is an older transcription. On the newer transcription of Until the Day Dawns cemetery, it does not list any of the Keiser/Kaisers.

My question: Is "As the Day Dawns" the same as "Until the Day Dawns?" Why would the Keiser/Kaisers show up on one but not the other?

Trying to verify these people are buried there and any information regarding dates, etc. would be appreciated. If these are my Kaiser/Keisers the birth dates would be as follows:

Keiser --
Fred 10 Nov 1879
Jennie (nee Dibble) cir 1886
Lionel cir 1910
John unknown

Kaiser --
Cardine (Caroline)Oct 1844, Germany
John Aug 1846, Germany

All help appreciated --

Jody in KS

Source: Minard, John Stearns, _Civic History and Illustrated Progress of Cuba, Allegany Co., N.Y. 1822-1910_, reprint, Windmill Publiccations, Inc., 1991, p. 95

James Moore CAMPBELL, son of Captain Robert CAMPBELL, was born in Milford, Otsego county, New York, May 28th, 1801. His early life was spent in Pompey, attending school at The academy, receiving a good education for those days. He was of The sturdy old Scotch Presbyterian descent, and was the last to die of a family of six children, three boys and three girls.

In 1823, Captain Robert Campbell and his two sons, Dillon and James, bade farewell to Pompey Hill and came to Cuba to seek their fortunes in The wilds of Allegany. Cuba at the time only a year old as a district civil division, was as important as any town in The western part of the state except Buffalo.

Settling on what is now known as "Jackson Hill," and sheltered in a rude log cabin, they commenced clearing up a farm. The next spring they were joined by their youngest brother, Rufus but Dillon went farther west. Captain Robert and sons, James and Rufus settling permanently here.

Mr. Campbell was a voracious reader of well chosen books and papers, and in early times took a prominent part in politics. A firm whig and republican from principle, his politics were not a personal character and his political opponents were never personal enemies. He had a high sense of honor, and his word when given, he considered as sacred as his note, and he was universally respected. He held several town offices, and was the first Whig Supervisor ever elected in Cuba. He died April 27th, 1876, leaving eight children, some of them residing in distant parts of our country. Our esteemed townsman, William CAMPBELL is a nephew, son of Rufus.

As a direct descendant of Abram Coon I can tell u quite a bit about my family. There were actually THREE Alonzo Coons. There was Alonzo A. Coon, Alonzo B. Coon, and Alonzo Maxson Coon. The most confusion involves Alonzo A. and Alonzo B. Alonzo Maxson Coon died in the Civil War.
Alonzo A. Coon was the son of Pardon Coon and Esther Walker. He married twice; first Abby Tefft Green, secondly Prudence Bowler. Alonzo B. Coon was the son of Rowland Coon and Sarah Tefft. He married first Eleanor Kenyon and secondly Mary C. Compton. Both Alonzo's are buried in cemeteries about a mile apart outside Friendship, Alle Co, NY. Alonzo A. Coon is buried in Nile Cemetery and further up the road Alonzo B. Coon is buried in Utopia Cemetery. Both of these cemeteries are listed on the Allegany Co Rootsweb site. Alonzo A. Coon and his second wife Prudence Bowler are well written up in the Sabbath Recorder. When he was 82 and she was 74, she was stricken and could no longer care for the two of them. Her daughter by her first marriage came from Wisconson and took her back with her, separating the two of them. Prudence died shortly after arriving in Wisconson. When Alonzo was told about her death he said "There is no longer any reason to live". He turned his face to the wall and was dead within hours. They say he died of a broken heart.

Reseraching ancestors of Harley HENDEE b. 1810 in Hume, NY

Researching the ancestors of Harley Hendee in NY. It appears the family migrated to Hume from Lake George, NY. Included are surnames HENDEE; RICH; KINGSBURY and perhaps BRYANT. Harley was born on Mar. 14, 1810 in Hume, Allegheny Co., NY,
the son of Richard and Phoebe (Rich) Hendee, and may have had a brother or cousin, David Hendee. At age 26, Harley migrated to Avon, Lake Co., IL and in Jan 1842 married Lucina Kingsbury, b. Dec 25, 1819 in Utica, NY, the daughter of Jesse and Sarah Kingsbury. They were long-time residents on a farm in Sec 34, Avon Twp, Lake Co., where they raised eight children. Harley died there on Feb 5, 1869 of lead poisoning. David married an Ann W. Jones, b. 1808 in NY, before his early death about 1850 in Lake Co. This was her second marriage. Soon she married Dodridge Bryant who might
be a sibling of Sarah Kingsbury. Looking for pre-1840 association between the four familieseen the four families

Robert Newton b abt 1777 of of Nunda, Grove, Birdsall and Angelica

I am looking for ANY info on a Robert Newton who lived in Allegany Co, but appears to have been born in MA in 1777-1778. The first I can find him is in 1820 in Nunda, Allegany Co, NY also listed there is Lyman H Newton. (Would also like more info on him as I can't seem to figure out where he went!) In 1830 I find Robert Newton in Grove, Allegany Co, NY and also listed there is "Klah" Newton which is obviously a spelling error- when looking at it, I thought it might look like Silas or Lyman. In 1840, I can't find Robert Newton at all in NY. In 1850 I find Robert Newton living with the family of Williard Blake age 46, Rachel his wife age 36,Edmund Blake 4, then Robery Newton 72, Henry Newton 15, Rufus Newton 11. Listed also on the same page is a William Newton age 38 and his wife Esther Newton age 30. Obviously I feel that al of these Newtons are related somehow. I wonder if Henry is the son of Robert, but he is so young, I wonder if he is the son of Rachel from a previous marriage. ANY help putting together these families would be most appreciated!

I have word of mouth stories from relatives, but no records or birth dates. I'm looking for information on Benjamin Franklin Taylor, who married Berena Catherine Bacon in Caneadea, Allegany County, NY. He was a chaplin in the Civil War and was Berena's third husband. I am also interested in Bethuel Bacon, Berena's father. Benjamin and Berena's youngest son, George Ernest Taylor married Lilian Mae Hampton. I am interested in anything on the Hampton family also.
In the upper
left hand corner is his son Charles Clinton Burdick
and wife Arminda Potter Burdick and their daughter
Alice Cornelia Burdick.
CHARLES AUSTIN b. abt 1840 Allegany Co,NY, m.CAROLINE ROSS

I'm trying to find my gr-gr-grandfather, Charles Austin. He lived in Pa but was born abt 1840 in New York but I'm not sure where. I think I've traced him to Genesee, Allegany Co, NY. If I have the correct Charles Austin, he is the son of John W. and Louise Austin who lived in Genesee at least from 1850 to 1880. John's occupation was mill wright. The 1870 census lists Charles Austin living in Smith twp, Pa with his wife, Caroline, b. 1846 in Pa. I think they were missed on a few other census counts because I can't find them in 1880.

I would appreciate any information on the Austin family. Thanks very much.
Abel AMES of St. Lawrence Co. to Allegany Co.

Abel AMES moved with his family from St. Lawrence County to Allegany Co. near Rushford. His wife was Sarah WATERBURY the daughter of Silvanus WATERBURY and Mary BLACKMAN, the year would have been abt 1830. Children were Nancy (1832), Jacob (1834), Silas Ira (1836), Jehiel W. (1838), Lydia (1840), Nathaniel (1843) and Alvin Milton (1848). Jehiel AMES married Lovilla Julia PORTER in St. Lawrence Co. 4 May 1859 and was back in Allegany Co. for the birth of Addie Addilla in 1860. There was also a Nahum AMES who was in Rushford the fall of 1830 and married to Edith TARBELL. He owned 100 acres Cream Ridge near Rushford. Believe he was Abel AMES' brother. Have the following children listed for Nahum: Fletcher, Augusta, Clarissa, Horace. Would like to exchange information with anyone working on these lines.
