COWDEN, DAVID, Pelham. Captain of a company of Minute-men, Col. Benjamin Ruggles Woodbridge’s regt; pay abstract for travel allowance to and from Ticonderoga in 1776; warrant allowed in Council March 18, 1777; also, 2nd Lieutenant, 5th co., Col. Porter’s (4th Hampshire Co.) regt.; list of officers of Mass. Militia; commissioned July 4, 1778; also, 1st Lieutenant, Capt. John Thompson’s (5th) co., 4th Hampshire Co. regt.; list of officers of Mass militia [year not given]; also, Lieutenant, 5th co., Col. Elisha Porter’s regt.; list of officers whose resignations were accepted in Council April 18, 1780, for the good of the service.

COWDEN, DAVID. Lieutenant, Capt. Abauer Pomroy’s co., Col. Ezra Wood’s regt.; service, 6 mos, 12 days, travel included; enlistment, 8 months; company marched to State of New York; roll made up for wages agreeable to resolve of April 20, 1778; also, same co. and regt; payroll for part of May and the month of June, 1778; service, 26 days; also, same co. and regt.; pay rolls for Aug., Sept., Oct. and Dec., 1778; also, same co. and regt.; pay for Jan. and part of Feb., 1779; service 1 mo. 8 days.

COWDEN, DAVID. Receipt dated April 18, 1871, for bounty paid said Cowden by Benjamin Edsons, in behalf of a class of the town of Pelham, to serve in the Continental Army for the term of 3 years.

COWDEN, GEORGE. Lieut. James Halbert’s co., Col. Elisha Porter’s regt; enlisted July 10, 1777; discharged Aug. 12, 1777; service 1 mo. 9 days, travel included, at Saratoga. Roll dated Pelham.

COWDEN, HEBRA (also given Hebrew). List of men enlisted or drafted from Hampshire Co. for the term of 8 months from the time of their arrival at Fishkill, June 19, 1778, as returned by Capt. John Thompson; Col. Greaton’s reg.; residence Pelham; engaged for town of Pelham; reported drafted.
