PJ: Fri. 1/13/2006: Clymer - Winifred A. Hapgood, 89, of 813 Bakerink Road, Clymer, died 12:37 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2006, in her home.
She was born Dec. 26, 1916, in the Town of Sherman, the daughter of the late Lee and Nora Pratt Park.
She was a 1934 graduate of Sherman High School and a 1937 graduate of Fredonia Normal School. She taught in one-room schools, and two years in the Clymer Central School. She was a substitute teacher for 20 years. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting gifts for her family and friends. She and her husband, George enjoyed square dancing and belonged to Beaver Square Dance Club and Penn York Campers Club for many years. They traveled with their RV extensively covering the United States including Alaska. She was a member of the Edwards Chapel United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a son, Frank Hapgood, his wife, Billie, of Locust Grove, Ga.; and three daughters: Carol Hunink, husband, Russell and Melanie Rager, husband, Chester of Clymer, Laurie Pembridge, her husband, Tom of Bemus Point; 16 grandchildren: Wendy Neckers of Corry, Cheryl Lictus and Julia Rager of Clymer, Valerie Catlett of Summerville, S.C., Darrell Hunink of Binghamton, N.Y., David Hunink of Lincoln, Neb., Stacy Hapgood of Atlanta Ga., Shannon Hapbood of Nashville, Tenn., Jody Rager of Harborcreek, Pa., Jamie Tiberi of Amherst, N.Y., Bradleigh, Courtney, Christopher, Jason, Emily and Oliva Pembridge of Bemus Point. She is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George I. Hapgood, whom she married Aug. 25, 1940, and died July 11, 2004, and three brothers: Charles, Lynn and Earl Park.
Burial will be in Clymer Cemetery.
