I have been interested in any VINING in Cortland County. Our line begins with Thomas Philo Vining, who died 15 Oct. 1851 in Taylor, and was buried in Potter Hill Cemetery, town of Taylor, with his wife Nancy. Had 8 children: Cynthia (Mrs. John Potter; John; Laura (Mrs. Phylander Potter; Lucinda; Eveline (Mrs. Howard Henry); Julia (Mrs. Hiram Henry--our line--buried by her parents); Charles; and Chauncey.
Of the Vining children, Charles had 6 children named Vining in Cincinnatus: Nancy (Mrs. Wm. Parker); Benjamin L.; John; George; & Jenny. His son, Benjamin L. Vining, 1862-1933, had 8 children: Hazel (Mrs. Clifford Parker); Nellie (Mrs. Frank Parker); Steven; Benjamin; Frank; Albert; and Edward. Of the children, his son, Albert, 1901-1966 had 4 children.
I do have a fair amount of detail, including obituaries, and a book, The Vinings in America by Mrs. Barnes, which traces Thomas Philo Vining's ancestry to: Abijah5, Samuel4, Samuel3, John2, Robert1, of Wincanton, Somerset, England.
