I am interested in learning the history of Wm. Goodell, my GGG grandfather. He was born in 1814, where I don't know, and died in 1865 in Potter county, PA. He reportedly was a doctor, and traveled to Erie County, NY to visit his brother or brothers in the Colden area to search for herbs for use in his medical practice. He is reported in Bate's "History of the Pennsylvania Regiments" as being a surgeon in the Union Army, but I don't know what regiment. Does anyone know anything concerning the name of Goodell in the early histories of the Colden area of Erie county? Perhaps I could trace Wm. Goodell as originating from that area of NY, if I had some link. I know there were Goodell's in early Buffalo, since there is a Goodell Street in that city.
