Thank you for your interest. I will have to check the couple in the 1844 marriage against records here. We certainly had Condon, Walsh and O'Connors in the area. I would guess Crefin is Griffin, maybe. I am well acquainted with the local Catholic parish records. St. Hippolyte's, which had a primarily French congregation, along with some Germans and Irish, dates from 1837, but their early records had been "lost or destroyed" prior to 1864, per notation by the parish priest in 1864. St. Agatha's has nothing prior to 1850, when a resident priest was finally assigned. St. Brigi's earliest records are missing, but they have a fairly complete record from 1864 on.

A priest from Erie visited the area sporadically in the 1840's, and I found that he had recorded those marriages and baptisms at St. Mary's in Erie. I was/am hoping that the Redemptorist father had recorded his baptisms at his home parish, since there was really nowhere here for him to do that in the 1840's. I think I will order the records through the Mormons, and see if I can recognize any names. Long shot, but it just might work! I may check back with you on a few specific names. Thanks again.
