There seems to have been quite a bit of Irish immigration to the cities of Johnstown and Gloversville from around 1890 to 1910. I assume that this was due, in part, to the employment opportunities available locally in the leather/glove industry. Of course, the time period was also one of increased immigration to the U.S. in general.
Can somebody point me to some good resources on the Irish communities in Johnstown and Gloversville? Do such resources (books, articles, websites) exist? I know there are books about the leather industry, but I was wondering if there are resources specifically about Irish immigrants, why they came to the area, the culture, Irish neighborhoods, etc. during this period of time. Thanks.
